Equipment is poorly maintained. When it takes longer to do a job because you spend all your time fixing their equipment, they charge you more because "it was over the four hours". 45 min job took five hours because of their poor machine. And when someone leaves a bad review its the customers fault. ABC rental is just across the bridge. It's worth the drive.

My first time renting from them and the staff was very polite on the phone aswell as in person. I rented a dump trailer and Jack hammer from them. I was unsure of what I needed for my project and they gave me their advice. If you don't fully know what you need then just ask before making a hastey decision. When I arrived to pick the equipment up the phone was ringing off of the hook but the staff took the time to get me set up and answered any questions I had. I can say for sure the next time the need arises I will rent from again.

So they choose to stay closed over a full weekend but won’t choose to extend a weeks bobcat rental by one day as well as a plate compactor.... I guess they would rather the equipment take up space in their yard than earn them another couple hundred dollars? Hell, they didn’t even try and barter. It seems dreadfully odd that a small business would operate like some big corporation with no flexibility in wanting to blend customer service with the desire to make money. No worries. Another rental company is renting me the plate compactor for the weekend with a daily charge because THEY are choosing to be closed Sunday. There is way too much competition out there to run a business this way. Good luck South Suburban. You’ll not see my business again.

Skip this one and rent elsewhere. A bad experience from the start. Paid $100 to set up the tent, guys put it in wrong place—wouldn’t correct it, ended up having to take down and move ourselves. They lost my payment information given at order. I needed to check my accounts, but they called four times in under 24 hours making demands. Talked to owner, and he brushed all concerns aside. I have had much better experience elsewhere and won’t be returning. Clarification, no anger here, just frustrated over the lack of customer service. I actually was more upset about the way I was treated by you and your staff on the phone. Better luck to you as well. Customer service training might be a good idea.

My first review ever. This morning I stopped by to rent a ladder. I explained that I had a lamp fixture 18 feet to the ceiling to replace. The friendly young man rented me a "16 foot adjustable ladder". I brought it home, unfolded it, and discovered that it was actually only an 8 foot ladder. 8 feet on each side. I turned right around and returned it to South Suburban Rental. This all took place in about 55 minutes. But instead of the friendly young man behind the counter; I now had a crabby, argumentative, old man who still charged me the $17.27 rental fee. What a bad business move. I rented from them for many years. For $17.27 he created bad will and hopefully lost my future business. Obviously he should have said "don't worry about the fee". That would have been reasonable. I would have smiled, thanked him for his understanding, and left there knowing I would return again whenever a need arose. And I would also tell people about the pleasant experience.

I recently rented a outdoor canopy, table and chairs for my son's graduation party. We paid the extra for delivery and set-up and it was well worth the money. There staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely rent from them again.

Stopped in to rent a simple bottle jack for a small quick home project. After being told the price to rent it doubled from when I rented one about a year earlier...I asked about the pipe handle to operate the jack. (They didn't have any.) The clerk told me "people never return the handles" when they come back to the store. I asked if he had a piece of pipe laying around...and he just blew me off and said I could find one myself if I wanted to rent this item. I asked him why in the world would he offer items for rent when they are missing a key component...and again...he just blew me off. He told me ABC Rental was just across the bridge if I needed a complete bottle jack. I suppose it's because it was a small $ rental item...he didn't really care. To me..it's how you treat you smallest customer that reflects on your entire operation. ABC rental had the jack...the handle and most importantly... good customer service I will be back to ABC in the future...So Suburban....never again.
