We used Mitch duncombe at this firm. We had a pretty horrible experience. I two biggest issues we're finding out two lies that he had told us things he said he had done, but really he had never actually followed through. First of all our biggest issue was him not filing our sales tax on time. We had just started using him at the beginning of the year of 2016. We were supposed to be filing monthly. And at our meeting we thought it was quarterly. Which it was. We had just been switched over two monthly. And we did not really know how to do our own accounting as we have never done it, we have always had full service accounting. You would think a full-service accountant would check on these things to make sure everything is running smoothly? He did not file or even check to see when our sales tax was due. So it went unpaid for four months. We ended up getting a $800 penalty for not filing on time. We took the hit. Mitch told us that he was going to write a letter asking for the penalty to be reduced as we had discussed in a meeting. After we terminated service with Mitch in April I called to talk about the sales tax issue we had. Minnesota state said they had never received a letter from Mitch or phone call asking for the penalty to be reduced. He lied to us. Now a whole year later I'm finding out another lie. We received a letter from the internal revenue Service Department of Treasury. Had the time Mitch said he had called to see about the credit we had on file which was almost $7,000. Mitch assured us at another meeting that he had called and it was not a credit that we could get back. But instead it was something that we owed to the Internal Revenue Service. Now whole year later we are getting another piece of mail addressing this exact same issue. I personally called to talked about the issue on the phone with somebody from the Internal Revenue Service. Just to find out that we "are" eligible for the $7,000 credit to be returned to our company. I talked to the internal revenue on the phone. And he checked his records there was no phone call from Mitch duncombe, or his team at canwest. This was the second lie. I am infuriated. How does an accountant life straight to your face.? I don't know. These are the two biggest issues we had with Mitch duncombe at canwest Accounting in Saint Michael Minnesota. Lying is never the way to go. On top of this. I had tried to contact the owner of the business Gordon several times I had left messages for him to call me back about these issues we were having with Mitch. He never called me back. I called the office a few times to talk to Gordon and Mitch pick up the phone and rudely said that I was not allowed to talk to Gordon. Mitch was very rude on the phone that day very non-professional. For one example of being unprofessional. Every time we met Mitch he was always wearing some icky old big dog T-shirt with holes. He never once dressed as an accountant should dress. His office was very cluttered and very dirty. During tax season my foot actually became numb it was so cold and his office. After meeting with him the first time to set up services. He said he was going to be closing out invoices for a company, and taking care of all the of our accounting needs as a full-service accountant should. He never held up his end of the deal.
