Came here for the first time today. Super nice doc and staff. Felt very comfortable with his directions and advice and treatment. He had all the stuff stocked in the office. Got a same day appt too. 230$ for 3 medications and an office visit is pretty reasonable especially given the quality of service

they are very nice! HOWEVER, pricey! it cost $297 for my cat to be treated for ear mites! Just be prepared to pay, and ASK them how much things will be before they do it! i was told they have to look under microscope to confirm my cat had ear mites but did NOT tell me it would cost $95!! they just did it. so, that said, know that they are nice but it will cost you!

Dr. Petranto is the absolutely best veterinarian I’ve ever had. He is compassionate and a very caring vet. My labradoodle Riley has been going there for 13 years and has had multiple surgeries. Dr. Petranto has done all his surgeries and has given my Riley a wonderful life. I followed Dr. Petranto from Twin Rivers to Plumstead Animal Hospital and I wouldn’t have any other surgeon work on my dog. Dr.Petranto will always have a special place in my heart.❤️❤️🐾🐾

Dr. PETRANTO is an amazing surgeon. He fixed a torn ACL in my 1 cat. Another cat had blood coming from his mouth and couldn't close his mouth. Dr. P fixed my baby. I highly recommend. He and his Staff are very passionate about what they do and take excellent care of your pets

I am so very disappointed in the care my pets have received in the past two years. I have been a very loyal customer taking my dogs there for years before that. When we got our purebred puppy we noticed a lot of snarky comments about him being "inbred, etc." This was the beginning of the decline for us. The rude comments were apparently just the tip of the iceberg. When their hours changed it was very difficult for us to be able to go there as we both have standard jobs. The staff changed and became very rude when asked a question on the phone or e-mail. We decided to get health insurance for our dog and needed her medical records to submit to them. After receiving them I learned they have been muzzling my dog without my knowledge during the pandemic AND without her being aggressive. All the notes say "timid, shy, nervous, but well behaved." Someone wrote "muzzle" on her records from 2017, though she has never been muzzled while I was with her. In January the notes said. "Muzzled per notes, but no aggression and well behaved." My dog is a timid dog who has a history of being abused before we rescued her. She is nervous at the vet, but never aggressive, or even growls. She hides under the chairs. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body. She is a flight dog, not a fight dog. I am so sad for my dog, and even more upset that they did not inform me. If you think my dog needs to be muzzled then fine if she is showing aggression. I'm not against muzzling if it is needed, but have the respect enough to tell me so I know why my dog comes out extra traumatized. We will never be going to them ever again, and after years of recommending them to others, I will be suggesting anything but Plumbstead. I am so severely disappointed in their care of my dogs.

As a former employee and forever client, I can honestly say that everyone here cares for your pets as if they were their own. The entire staff, from the veterinarians, to the technicians, to the front desk personnel, work long hours (often without breaks) to ensure that every pet that comes through the doors is treated with the utmost care, and every owner is provided with the proper knowledge and tools to carry on treatment once they get home. While not an emergency hospital, the doctors often see emergency cases because it isn’t in their nature to turn anyone away. Dr. Petranto, Dr. Mark and Dr. Stephan are remarkable clinicians, and wonderful people. They spend countless hours ensuring their patients (and clients) are thriving, and work so hard to diagnose and treat any ailments they uncover. My pet is a patient of Dr. Mark’s, and she’s successfully treated multiple, rather complicated issues that he’s had (one of which was an emergency-type situation most recently). The technicians work tirelessly to aid each doctor with each patient. Their hours are long and grueling, but they show up because they love it. They love their patients, and they love being an integral part of each pet’s journey. The front desk representatives spend their days ensuring that every patient possible is fit into the doctors’ schedules to be seen. They obtain approvals for medication refills (often on an urgent basis), and they field the hundreds of calls that come in daily with poise and friendliness. I can’t recommend Plumsted Animal Hospital enough. As a pet owner, you want a knowledgeable, dedicated staff overseeing your pet’s care. I’m lucky enough to have worked personally with these staff members, and know how much they care about each and every patient they see. And though I no longer work there, I’ll be a client for life.

As a former employee, I do not recommend giving your business to Dr. Petranto because it is evident that the well-being of animals is not his top priority. My dog tore her left ACL in October of 2019 and it was surgically repaired by Dr. Petranto in January of 2020 (I was employed here during this time). Surgery and recovery were both very successful. In December of 2020, I resigned from my position as the head receptionist due to declining mental health from working in a toxic environment for so long, including being talked down to by Dr. Petranto. Since my resignation, I have continued to bring my dog to Plumsted to see Dr. Mark for routine needs because we have maintained a professional, respectful relationship. Last week, my dog injured her right leg playing ball and Dr. Mark squeezed me into her booked schedule the following morning for x-rays with sedation. X-rays confirmed an ACL tear which would need surgical correction. Putting the past aside for my dog’s well-being, I scheduled my dog’s surgery with Dr. Petranto for mid-September. I knew it was okay to wait until then because Dr. Mark had said so, because my dog waited months for her first repair, and because I had worked there. Two days later, I received a phone call from the hospital manager stating that given Dr. Petranto’s absence for the month of August and hectic schedule upon returning in September, he recommends bringing my dog to another hospital, and that they will be sending me all her records. Rewind to the first ACL tear, torn in October 2019 and not repaired until January of 2020 because my dog’s surgery kept getting pushed back to make room for “valued clients” in a very demanding surgery schedule. When the new year approached, I expressed my disappointment in all the rescheduling to a surgical technician who offered to stay late on a surgery day so that my dog could finally be squeezed in. My employee pet had to be squeezed in. So, to basically say it is not advisable for my dog to wait until a surgery that is scheduled a month out, was Dr. Petranto’s way of saying he does not want to do the surgery because of our indifferences, yet, he could not say that and had the manager call me and make up an excuse that would appear to be professional. Unfortunately, I have had to make calls like that for him before too, so I knew exactly what it meant. It is a shame that my dog’s care was put on the back burner for indifference from his end. I gave him credit for a successful surgery the first time and had only my dog’s best interest when scheduling the second, but clearly, he, the veterinarian, did not. I have no doubt that my dog will receive top notch care elsewhere and I do thank Dr. Mark and the technicians at Plumsted for their devotion to the animals and empathy towards owners AND staff alike. Always make sure that is your vet’s top priority.

I wish I could recommend and praise Plumsted Animal Hospital at 15000000 stars because they have been absolutely incredible with me and my dog. They have fantastic communication, they are incredibly professional, upfront, and honest. They are fairly priced too which is a major plus in my book being a new and first time home buyer. My dog needed to have a surgery on his shoulder and his incision was sutured backed together seamlessly. it looks fantastic! Thank you Plumsted Animal Hospital! I'm so happy that my boy is on the road to recovery ❤

We've taken our 2 dogs to Plumsted Animal Hospital since Dr. Petranto opened the practice. He and Dr. Mark are amazing. Dr. Mark treated our Belvedere for both slipped discs and liver disease when he was 12 years old with outstanding results. I recently noticed a large growth on his rear paw. I sent an image to the office and Dr. Mark quickly put us onto her schedule. After running tests and doing an aspiration, she told us the results came back as cancer. She reassured us that our now 17 year old dog would be able to withstand the anesthesia and surgery; she quickly had Belvedere on Dr. P's surgical schedule to remove the tumor. Dr. P and Dr. Mark saved his leg and his life. Dr. Mark has gone above and beyond to provide our dogs with the best care and treatments she can find. She will always find time to see one of our dogs when I call with an issue. Dr. P, Dr. Mark, and their techs are professional and caring. There is no place else we would trust our dogs health with than Dr. Mark and Dr. P.

I love this veterinary hospital. The front desk and techs are always nice and Dr Petranto is phenomenal. He performed a complicated surgery on a shelter cat who wasn’t expected to survive, and the cat is living healthy and happily ever after. I’ve also seen Dr Mark and liked her very much. They do their best to fit in emergencies. This is a compassionate and skilled vet practice.
