Depending on their closer, they will close 15-30min early, using a “restocking sign” (Even though they’re in plain sight and most obviously NOT restocking) on a locked door to get customers to walk away. If you try to wait outside, they will either avoid eye contact or simply shake their head, refusing to open the doors.
