I’ve been going to Dr. McCormack since she came to Polk County. So did my elderly Mom and now my husband sees her as well. She’s been a blessing to our family. Always patient and caring. She goes out of her way to care for us and see that things are going well. She’s prompt in returning calls and messages, very focused on our needs and easy to talk to. I’m very grateful we have a professional family doctor in our area and a sweet, friendly staff. No complaints from this family. We’ve been extremely pleased for many many years.

Dr. McCormack is very thorough and really takes her time during my annual physical. She also takes the time to call me personally with any test results. The office is good about getting me in when needed and getting prescriptions refilled are a snap. I have been so pleased here that my husband has made Dr. McCormack his primary as well. We are grateful to have a caring doctor nearby.

My Medicaid card was sent with their information on it. I called to book an appointment and they said they are on a 4 month waiting list - UNTIL they found out I had Medicaid - then it became that they had no appointments for me. I’m not surprised - just another company focused on dollar signs.

My family has been using doc Sandy for close to 10 years. I was very happy with her until about 3 years ago. Positives: 1. She is more thorough with yearly wellness checks with my daughter than our pediatrician 2. She offers good basic care for wellness checks in adults and usually sends me with printouts for learning more about whatever is going on. I ask a lot of questions! 😂 2. In the past she has been really good about offering more natural care options upon request 3. The staff are friendly and the waiting room has a nice setup for adults and kids. Love the kids books Negatives 1. There were some billing issues a while back that took months to resolve. It was a miscommunication with how the system had us set up. But there was a lot of confusion around it on both sides. I think they were changing their computer system at the time: we got it resolved but it was a pain in the process to just get details from the office to straighten things out for my records. 2. In the last few years Doc Sandy has been much less personable. To be blunt she’s gotten pretty rude about a few things that a simple conversation would have sufficed with. We go to doctors because they are the experts and we need help 🤷‍♀️ if my doctor isn’t able to be patient about offering education around whatever issues we are facing, they aren’t doing their job in the way I would like. This hasn’t been an issue in the past, but I typically ask a lot of questions to be sure I know what is going on. 3. The final straw that will have me finally deciding to find another provider was a set of meds prescribed to my five year old. Her dad took her in for her appointment about some issues she’s been having with a cough for a few months. We figured it was a combination of allergies and she definitely picked up a cold or two from school. A few years back one of the rude comments Doc Sandy made was about the frequency of us bringing our kiddo in when she was catching something from school monthly. We usually only brought her in when it wasn’t getting better from natural remedies after 1-2 weeks of rest and home care. Back to this recent visit. We have just been managing with home remedies but both myself and our daughters grandparents were concerned about how long she had this cough. Doc sandy said it just looks like allergies. No surprises there, but good to know! She gives us a $60 prescription of two different meds that we go pick up. When I get the packages and read the side effects one is dizziness and stomach ache, ok keeping an eye on that and only take it at night. The second one may cause mental health issues that can continue even after medication has stopped. I am absolutely not giving that one to her and am a little shocked she would have even prescribed that one to a five year old. I’ve researched some holistic alternatives and will be getting my daughter in to see Dr. Kim in Lynn instead. I have heard great things about him and he is well versed in both eastern and western style medicine I Am Bummed about leaving her because we’ve enjoyed seeing Doc Sandy for the most part for many years. I have been honest about any complaints or concerns I’ve had in the past so we can try to figure out how to best navigate our doctor patient reLationship. Unfortunately, her quality of care has really gone down in my opinion. One of my favorite parts about seeing her used to be that she was always friendly and offered natural solutions first and avoided any medications that weren’t absolutely necessary. She’s a super cool lady. However,I am not comfortable with having her as a doctor anymore after this last experience. Good thing I always read medication inserts for myself and my daughter first.

She does not know how to treat my condition and will not refer me to anyone who might. I emailed her twice and called the office and she is ignoring me. This is very hurtful and unprofessional.

I've been going to Dr. McCormack since she moved her office to Tryon, close to 40 years now. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.
