I have been with First Federal of Lakewood for I don't know maybe 40 years or more. (I'll have to ask them some day). This should be enough said.

I've been banking with First Federal of Lakewood since 1982, and have never thought it should be any other way.

I have been with this bank for about 3 years. The staff is super friendly. My daughter has an account with them as well, and my daughter found out there was illegal transactions made to her account that she never made. This bank was one step ahead of us, when we called to inform them, they told us that they already have the paperwork in progress for illegal transactions and her money will be refunded asap. She received her money the next day. I cannot say enough about this staff. They are always welcoming with a kind smile, and they know you by name. They are extremely wonderful people!

The people are nice enough but not very competent or effective. I ran into an issue with their online banking system that never got resolved after several attempts of working on it with them. It's still not fixed. I also opened a new checking account and have yet to receive my checks...one month later!

Been a customer at this branch for over 20 years. They're efficient, friendly, helpful, and respond with aplomb to my requirements for elevated privacy and security. The coffee selection at the complimentary Keurig machine ain't bad, either.

I went through a three month construction loan process, in which I was approved about a month into. The other two months was spent barely getting communication with me because of underwriting being done and general terrible customer service. At the end of those three months, they told me my builder could not be approved. Mind you rates had gone up nearly an entire point during those three months and my builder and I were just waiting buy the property to start building ASAP. Also, my builder I was using was been known from the very beginning of this loan process. It is in my opinion, they saw how much the rates went up and tried to find any reason to back-out of the deal. When I asked about why my builder could not be approved, they told me they could not give me that information. I should also mention, my builder has been in business for 20 years and builds many (10-20) homes along with buildings/condos each year and had no problem being approved by the next bank in a quarter of the time. Please save yourself the trouble, do not work with these unprofessional wastes-of-time.

First time I stopped here, it was Black Friday. I took some pictures of the outside of the building to share their new location. An employee followed a patron out, scowling. I told her I was taking pictures to share on Google Maps. She said, "Generally, that's frowned upon," and made it sound like she was gonna call the cops on me. Now, after the experience, I can see why a bank wouldn't want you taking pictures, but she was EXTREMELY RUDE. I was not planning on opening an account here, & now, especially after reading the reviews, I never will. I will never open account with this branch or even this group of banks. I suggest you don't either! Go to any other bank other than this rude lot.

Chris Bartish was the mortgage loan originator I worked with for my transaction. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions whether by email or phone. He kept me informed throughout the entire process and was always prompt with his responses. Thank you Chris and James F for your 5 star service.

If there was a way to give negative stars for this pathetic excuse for a bank I would. Don't ever use this bank for anything. Withdraw all your money and use any other bank. Hell keep the money under your mattress at least it won't get lost there... My wife and I were pre-approved by several banks and were referred to FFL by friends. We are regretting that decision to this day. After it seemed we filled out and turned in the same paperwork several times it took twice as long to close as we were originally told. Ehhhh not that big of a deal. Three days before we were going to sign papers on the house we were called and told the down payment had been miscalculated by THOUSANDS of dollars because the bank needed more money into the escrow account per a new law or some blah blah blah excuse we were given. Should have raised a few flags that this bank clearly is not good with math... However, we continued to use them. Three days later we are sitting down with the title company to sign papers. We get to the last page and the monthly mortgage payment that we were originally told was off by almost $100. Again math really not the strong suit of this bank. Though the errors always seem to be in their favor. At this point with earnest money down on the house we're going to loose money if we don't sign these papers... So we sign. Again HUGE mistake because the errors didn't stop there. Fast forward to a year later. Our mortgage is raised by $30 a month due to inflation taxes blah blah blah. I find this odd because the reason our down payment went up thousands of dollars was extra money needed in escrow account. How could the 14 months I had to put up front and the $350 dollars a month that goes in the escrow account not be enough? Well being a full times student and working 2 jobs with a little one on the way not much time to call insurances and hunt down the mistakes of this horrible bank. So another year later my insurance company calls me to inform me that our bank has not paid the insurance and FFL's excuse to my insurance company is "oh those customers must have refinanced because we aren't in charge of their escrow" WHAT?! You lost my entire escrow in 2.5 years? So I make some phone calls and find out this bank has been double paying insurance companies for almost two years and was too incompetent to figure out why they're loosing all of our hard earned money! Come to find out I'm not entitled a full refund from the insurance company because the mistake had been happening for over a year. Goodbye $800 dollars. Of course FFL claims it was my fault! Think this horror story is over?! No not yet. We refinance with a far better bank. Whew finally clear of the screw ups that can't count as well as my two year old daughter. JUST KIDDING. Despite every statement given by FFL that our escrow had $1500 in it the only cut me a check for $1300. Over two weeks later the answer I'm given is "Oh it was used for part of the payoff". Really because my new mortgage with a much better bank was the payoff. Still no answer as to why this bank has stolen over $1,000 from myself and my wife.
