Moved from a 2 bedroom, 900 square foot home to a house 10 minutes away. We previously did a lot of the work prior to hiring Medved by taking totes and boxes to the house the days leading up to the move. Was quoted a price for a 3 man crew and 4 hours based on the information I provided. Basically one man single handedly did the entire move because one gentleman was physically limited by a heart condition, and the other young man was obviously a new hire who seemed to have never moved a house before. He wasn’t careful, he dropped and damaged multiple furniture items (TV stand, dresser, mattress protector), he banged items off of our walls and chipped paint, he struggled with lifting normal furniture, and he didn’t listen to any instructions. He had to be instructed by both the main mover and us throughout the entire move to be more careful. They also brought a small truck for the move, which resulted in 2 trips, which I was charged for the travel time. Because the main mover had such little help, it took nearly 10 hours, which is insane for the size of our previous house... even upon arrival, I was told, “This shouldn’t take long, you don’t have that much stuff, and you did a lot of the work for us.” The loading and unloading of the truck was excruciatingly slow... again, because it was basically one guy who did the lion’s share of the work and he had to give directions to the new hire the entire time, which was inefficient. We ended up having them put most of the stuff in our garage because the move was taking so long, and they charge by the hour. So we had to practically move half of our house from the garage to the main residence because I couldn’t have them there another 3 hours. Because the move took so long, the closing on the new house was delayed, and it delayed the new owner from taking ownership. They still had the entire basement to move, while the new owner and her whole family watched and waited for yet another hour and a half. This caused undue emotional stress. The main mover tried his best to work with me on the bill, but it ended up being double what I was quoted. I couldn’t in good conscience pay that after the horrible experience. The owner agreed to deduct some of the time, but I ultimately think I still paid too much. I can’t express what a bad experience this was. I hired movers so that it was less stress and things could be transported in a safe manner. Until the business practices are improved and qualified people are hired, I would NEVER recommend this service. Services: Oversized-item moving, In-state moving

Unless you want to pay more than you’re quoted and wait hours on a moving company to arrive with your belongings, look elsewhere for your move! I hired Medved Moving and Storage to complete a move from Uniontown, PA to Pittsburgh, PA. The loading was scheduled to take place in Uniontown on 10/1, and the unloading was set for 10/2. When I called to obtain an estimate for services, the woman quoted me $120/hour for a 3-person crew. She estimated that it would take 4 hours to load and 4 to unload. Because the move was greater than 40 miles, she also said that I would need to pay a 2-hour travel fee. Also, there was a fee for fuel and a fee for keeping my things overnight. I was satisfied with this pricing, and booked their services. There was no formal paperwork or written quote, so I called several times prior to the move to confirm the details of the transaction. The details remained the same with each call. When the crew arrived, there were 4 guys (instead of the quoted 3). I asked the lead mover about the difference in price, and he told me that a 4-person crew was $150/hour. I didn’t really mind; I figured it would make the process go faster and that the difference would probably balance out. The movers were on time in Uniontown and loaded our house carefully and efficiently. When it came time to unload, however, the movers were 2 hours late. After getting the run-around from the owner/office staff about estimated arrival time, the movers finally arrived and unpacked our items quickly and efficiently. However, when I was presented with a bill, the total was approximately $300 higher than anticipated. The loading took 2.5 hours and the unload took 1.5 hours. I had anticipated having to pay for these 4 hours plus the 2-hour travel charge the that was originally mentioned, the overnight fee ($150), and a fuel charge ($40-something). Running the numbers quickly, I expected the total to equal $1,050 (7 hours at $150/hours) plus the fuel charge. My bill was for $1,377. When I asked about this $300 difference, the lead mover explained to me that we had been assessed a 2-hour travel charge for the drive TO Pittsburgh and ANOTHER one for the drive home. I told him that the woman at the office quoted me for ONE two-hour travel charge, period. He explained that their charges began from the minute they left their office in Hopwood (which, using his calculations, resulted in an additional 2-hour charge). I, again, explained that no one explained that to me, and that I had been told that I would be paying for the moving, a (just one!) two-hour travel fee, the fuel, and the overnight charge. The lead mover explained that he would need to talk with the owner. He left the house and called the owner (Bill) who requested that I call him personally. I did. I have never received such poor customer service or encountered such a rude, disrespectful business owner in my entire life. Not only did the owner talk over me for half of our conversation; he also repeatedly asserted that his employee would not have quoted the pricing incorrectly and that I must have made the mistake. The owner completely refused to acknowledge the possibility that his employee quoted the pricing incorrectly. With the lead mover standing in our living room for over an hour, a crew waiting in the truck, and a house full of stuff to unpack, we felt like we had no option other than to pay the $1,377, even though it was absolutely not what I had been quoted. So, in the end, I paid for an extra 2 hours of driving (at the exorbitant price of $150/hour) and wasted 3 hours of my day-- 2 waiting for them to arrive, and 1 being barraged by the owner on the phone. Needless to say, all of this occurred without the slightest hint of an apology from the business owner. I do not recommend that anyone hire this company, but, if you do, be sure to get your pricing IN WRITING. Otherwise, I’m sure you’ll be owing more than quoted, just like we did.
