I am only giving a two-star because of lack of communication. The doctor I did see at Heart and Vascular was very nice and very thorough. When I first made my appointment I explained that I had already seen two doctors one of them being a heart doctor and both referred me. The one doctor said I was a candidate for ablation surgery for SVT and should be my next step after an ultrasound. I went to heart and vascular center and had a consultation and had an ultrasound. After another terrible SVT episode I decided I was ready for the surgery. When I called the heart and vascular center they said I had to come in for another consultation with a different doctor because a doctor I originally seen does not do ablations for SVT. This is the whole point of me going there in the first place. So now I have to pay another $200 out of pocket for yet another 15-minute conversation and a three and a half hour drive! So frustrating! I voice my concern to the nurse and asked if I could just do a Skype meeting and she said she would get back to me and she never called back.

I was first seen at the heart and vascular institute of Wisconsin in April of 2022 after another cardiologist dismissed my symptoms. I had an echocardiogram and a holter monitor done, was told I have mitral regurgitation and tricuspid regurgitation and was told that I didn’t need any further evaluations. I called and asked if there’s another medication I could try for my sinus tachycardia and ectopic beats and it took 2 weeks to get a call back and they said they’d ask the doctor and I never heard from them again. I call last week and I’m on hold combined 140 minutes and was hung up on 3 times just for them to answer and tell me the nurse will call me back and guess what? No one called me back. I’m on hold now and I’m in position 16 and have been hung up on once already. Seriously not impressed.

Very knowledgeable and friendly people. I love that they take the time to explain what they are doing and why. You can tell the staff is happy by the way they treat their patients.

Horrible experience!! Never have I been treated so poorly. Will not recommend this place to my family, friends or patients.

This is a cold, sparse, completely cheaply furnished space clearly designed with one thing in mind,:maximizing profits. There is no other explanation. I have seen greyhound bus stations with better decor and more comfortable seating. On a very cold morning recently I accompanied an older relative for a procedure which took approximately 4 hours. She was given an IV and then SENT BACK TO THE RECEPTION AREA to wait with an open IV in her hand. I have never seen a clinic where the people checking in and arguing about their copays were in the exact same space as the people who were in the middle of procedures. She was so cold and uncomfortable due to the front doors opening and closing just a few feet from where we were forced to wait that I had to get a blanket from my car to keep her warm. Also, we could hear everything going on behind the desk as staff members were calling people on the phone and discussing their conditions and billing issues mere inches from where we sat. These procedures cost tens of thousands of dollars and the patients are mostly elderly. To treat them this way is unconscionable.

Make sure you get a detailed bill that separates charges and payments by service date and procedure. Their bookkeeping and bookkeeping procedures stink. Overall business practices are confused. They should stick to medicine and hire a competent business manager.

I was very impressed with my first visit to HVI for my consultation with a Dr. Wilson. That was the last time I saw or spoke with him. A stress test was administered by a nurse and technician and was contacted by a nurse to inform me of the results. Subsequent catheter procedure by another physician whose name escapes me was performed with no action taken to address the problem. Follow-up the following day was a phone call from a nurse at which time I stated my displeasure with HVI's procedures or lack of regarding my particular issue. I was contacted later that day by the CEO of HVI asking how they could resolve the issue but not until the guy referred to my original cardiologist and others not affiliated with HVI as "Dabblers" at which time I terminated the conversation. It's now been well over a month and because I've had an issue since the catheter procedure, I've seen another cardiologist who pointed out my problem areas, one of which would require by-pass surgery and the other he could take care of with a stent. Now, this "Dabbler" could not understand why the area requiring a stent was not taken care of by HVI's cardiologist. My main question is, "Why would a physician perform an invasive procedure without a corrective action plan?" I have just received a copy of my bill for $37,000 plus, for February's procedure which I wouldn't have a problem with had the cardiologist placed a stent as required. Now, to have to repeat this procedure (nuclear stress test and catheter procedure) when it should have been performed originally, is wrong! The one star is for the nurses and technicians at HVI and St. E's for their excellent care, attitude, and ability to smooth out a difficult situation, they are outstanding individuals in their profession!

As you can see I enjoy life and yes I admit I don't watch my diet like Dr. Zhou would like. Thank GOD he was there when I needed him. His chair side manners and teaching abilities created a comfort zone for what was in store for my heart. Two cardioversions later I'm now a 76yr old energy bunny again. Thank You Dr. Zhou and your wonderful office staff. If you have any questions about what is happening to your heart your future needs to be in the hands of a skilled physician and his name is Dr. Li Zhou MD
