Was turned away at the door because my daughter's shorts were too short (has never happened anywhere) Have whatever policy you want, but it should be posted clearly online and made obvious BEFORE you try to enter the store. Totally humiliating to be turned away at the door.

I'm writing this as a review of this store, Design Exchange. I had an absolutely horrible experience with the owner. She is one of the rudest people that I have ever met. I can't believe that she is still in business! There was no," Hello, How can I help you, Let me explain the process of consigning an item..." I had never brought an item in for consignment and so did not know the process. She was rude, condescending and irritated that I did not know what to do. I was so frazzled by her that I broke a tea cup of mine that I was trying to unwrap. I was afraid to talk to her! I will never buy anything there again or consign anything. I also feel compelled to add that her employees on the other hand, are wonderful and helped me with politeness and respect.

I walked into the place and this lady was yelling at the top of her lungs at something. I'm not sure who she was talking to but standing near my she was talking awfully loud. Moments later I heard her belittling two of her employees. One young girl and an older lady. She said I'm not going to do your job and you have to figure it out yourself. Again this dark-haired lady with glasses whom I was told was the owner was so rude to these two women right in front of a shopper being myself. There were items I wanted to purchase but after this experience I didn't want to do it as I would just remember these two poor women being belittled by the owner.. it was one of the worst shopping experiences.

I was very disappointed with my experience. Our offer on a table was accepted, money was exchanged and just before we were given our change, we were told (I’m assuming from the owner of the business) that we could not purchase the item at that price. Her excuse was that she thought it was a different table we were buying, I understand mistakes happen but she did not counter or make any affect to work with us on the table. The sales lady was very nice, apologized many times. We appreciate her affects.

Wow, there seems to be a common thread when it comes to reviews of this retailer and the owner Katie. I really don't know who you think you are but you just treated my husband so rudely and condescending today. He came to have a piece of furniture looked at and you just told him he wasn't a customer he was a consignee. WHAT! When he asked a question about your protocol when pictures are sent he thought you circulated the pictures perhaps. She told him it was for inventory and was very offended by his question. Katie said by him asking that question he was unfriendly! My husband then told her you know who is unfriendly, you! He never was treated as a customer so badly before, ever. Oh wait, he isn't a customer according to Katie, he's a consignee! Apparently it is okay in your book of retailer etiquette to be rude to your consignees. You make money off of people's items so they are your CUSTOMERS! Won't be back ever!

Katie, the store owner, is wonderful. She helped my mom out by selling her furniture when she downsized from a house to a senior apartment. My mom was going through very hard financial times, and I am so grateful for Katie selling my mom's things for what they were worth. I appreciate that Katie and her staff will keep your things until they are sold rather than returning them to the owner (unsold) after a few months. It has been a pleasure shopping there, as well. Beautiful items.

Today was my first experience with DesignXChange and I had to write a review after having seen so many negative ones below. Within moments of walking in with my toddler, I was greeted right away with a smile and was not only asked as to what I was there to see but shown different themed rooms to meet the interest of myself and my young daughter. The staff was excellent in helping keep my daughter occupied and happy while I was able to examine the many items this store has to offer. I was surprised to see the beautiful array of furniture put together with collective decor to give each section it's own theme. I would not describe this store as a flea market, as there is a certain quality and standard if a high end retail store featuring pieces of furniture and decore that are just as unique as yourself. I know that I will be a returning customer here as everyone staffed were more concerned with my needs and my child's than just the items in the store. We thank you for such a positive experience to Renee, Roseanne, Susie and Heidi!
