This place has the best cheese fries! Been coming here for the past 20 years and every time I go I leave satisfied.

Was excited to try John's diner but it left us underwhelmed. Those taking the order were more engaged with one another than with those ordering. Surprisingly, they have no hamburgers. I tried the sloppy Joe, which was adequate but nothing spectacular. The others with me tried the chicken sandwich and Italian sausage. Again, surprised they had very limited toppings and all our sandwiches were very small for the price. Italian sausage had only marinera sauce and peppers for toppings...no onions. The famous root beer actually tasted flat. Malt was fair. Fries were good. Left disappointed. There are many other diners much better and they have portions worth the price. Our family won't be back.

I love the chili/nacho dog. The fries are wonderful. I'm not a big fan of root beer in general; however, everyone seems to love it. I typically don't order a drink because for some reason, they don't offer ice, and the drinks are cool at best. I was a bit stunned one afternoon when it seemed like the entire staff came out and began yelling at someone for having their little puppy outside their vehicle. It is a huge lot, so I don't understand why they don't allow a well-behaved animal be present.

Nice little stand with hot dogs, fries and some other fried food. This is not a stand where they come to the car for your order. You need to park and walk up to window and wait for the food. The root beer is very delicious and on the sweeter side. We always make a point to stop a couple of times per year. The consistency of taste in their rootbeer is sometimes not always the same which is why the I would - .5 stars if I could. Otherwise friendly staff and a great place to stop for lunch or dinner.

Old fashion root beer stand. Like the A&Ws used to be. Root beer is good and you can get it in a glass mug. I have not tried the food.

This iconic spot has barely changed since my childhood and I love that about it! Classic American food served quick and hot. There's nothing like a root beer frosty from John's in the middle of summer!

A classic Waukesha spot if there ever was one. The food does not leave you disappointed...... but the rootbeer.... the rootbeer is what will keep you coming back forever .. I should know, I've been coming back for at least 27 years... ( earlier than that my memory gets fuzzy). A unique recipie that isn't just for the hell of being unique but is actually absolutely delicious. Combine that with a chilled quart mug and just the right amount of head and you get a rootbeer connoisseur's dream... If there's one place in Waukesha to eat at, this is it. I grew up for awhile up just a few doors down from here, which is probably why I am the rootbeer connoisseur I am today.
