I love this store for its old school fashion selection and quality clothing (100% cotton and hybrid fabrics) as well as shoes. They also have good stringing which prides itself on expediency and professional craftsmanship. Lastly, regardless of your skill level you can get good advice here with respect to racket selection - just be patient and hone your listening skills - this store very much prides itself on passion and knowledge and like the owner said it's not a money maker. Ignoring my fetish for tennis clothing for one second, remember to play well you need three: proper fitting shoes, a racket to match your play level and good string to complement it. That said the store has it all, including luxury and branding 👌

My son and I went to Paramount Tennis shop today for the first time. I was very grateful for the advice and friendly help we received from Kendall. Being new to tennis and not sure what to buy, Kendall really helped us in selecting an appropriate racket for my son and explained why he was making the recommendations. I feel the price was fair and competitive. We will definitely go back!

I came in with an emergency problem on the handle of my racket that was immediately repaired and it was explained to me in such a way that I can avoid the problem in the future.

So I read the review about how rude Kendall can be and wanted to comment on that. That reviewer was accurate and that review was probably justified. In fact I brought my rackets in with the string he put in over 12 years ago (I haven't been playing) and my legitimate and polite questions were met with rapid fire rudeness as well. I was 3 seconds from walking out, but.... I realized he's kind of like the "Soup Nazi" character on Seinfeld. I wanted his knowledge on rackets so I hung around. I ended up learning a lot and he softened up (a bit). Just know to expect this, don't take it personal and check it out, it's a cool "old school" retail store and you'll get great advice and reasonable prices. He has a lot of demo's as well.

Great place to get rackets strung! I've brought many rackets to this shop to get strung, they're often able to string same day and are done well.

Stringing service is convenient. The turn around on my racquets is pretty fast. Good selection of racquets if you wish to purchase and prices are reasonable.

I love having a neighborhood tennis pro shop right on 17th street to fill my son's equipment needs. They know him personally which makes him feel welcome and always carry his size shoes in stock for last minute runs between practice and matches. They are also quick in the turn around for racket purchase and stringing with fair prices for everything. Thanks Paramount.

The store was recommended by a friend of mine who was a professional tennis player. My experience is limited to restringing my daughter's racquets.

they sell quality products but if you get a wrong size, do not expect a refund of your cost, STORE CREDIT ONLY; it seems as if the sales force would tell you that in case you miss the sign, as I did

The person I spoke with at Paramount Tennis was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about tennis much more so than you can find at a generic sports store like Sports Chalet or Sportsmart etc. Although he came across a bit opinionated it quickly became evident that it was only because he knew so much about the game and cared so much about tennis. Any question I had, whether it was string tension, what type of racket different pros play with, or the history of tennis was met with an informed and thourough answer. For some who just want to buy a racket without any trouble this may not be the place for them, but for those that miss the service and personable feel of mom and pop shops that is often hard to come by in this age of chain stores, then Paramount Tennis is the place to go for tennis.
