Had an awesome experience here! I came without a reservation with my own pan just to see what it was all about and was welcomed by Nate right off the bat. Nate walked me through what they do and teach (sluice boxes) on the claim. He then offered me a deal on a walk-in spot which I gratefully accepted. Nate is a great teacher and super helpful: he set me up with a sluice and some buckets in a quiet patch away from the noise of families further down the stream. And sure enough, after a casual couple of hours I found plenty of flakes to take home! Nate will walk you through start to finish, from setup to tear-down and to the very end of the process, and you get to keep your gold. Gold is practically guaranteed for everyone here! They even sent me home with a better pan for my personal kit! Thanks folks!

I am blown away that gold panning remains a modern practice. James was an amazing guide, deft as a panner, knowledgeable and passionate about mineralogy. My family of four did a two hour gold panning, and found some gold! It was hard work, and I was satisfied with two hours, but my seven year old, six year old, and I loved it.

The best gold panning in California!! My husband and I stopped here while on our honeymoon and purchased the 3-hour excursion. Rock Hound (James) was such an incredible guide, and was so helpful. He even offered to give us some gold if we were unsuccessful, but we found a couple decent pickers and a ton of flour gold!! You're elbow deep in the creek and truly panning, and he helps you really pan back the black sand so you don't miss a thing. You also get a sluice box setup, which was a pleasant surprise! All in all, 1000% worth the trip for the experience alone. The gold was a nice bonus!

This gold mining experience is the real deal-not a tourist trap. I booked it last minute for my sons 13th birthday when our original plans were cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. In addition to learning how to pan for gold we learned about geology and the history of the area. James and his daughter made our gold mining experience a highlight of our CA vacation! They even had a birthday balloon for my son! (It’s the little things that mean so much😉)

What an amazing time. Nick and his wife met me and then James gently helped my kids come out of their shell. Very patient and kind and we panned and sluiced and gold was found. My son can't wait to come back. Do not hesitate to book with them, we can't wait to go back. Be sure to tip as well, service and hospitality like that is rarely found these days.

Absolutely amazing!!! I love how just a little bit of history and panning can make anyone smile and happy.. james was so patient with my kids and even with my blind one and in wheelchairs he went over and beyond to make them all feel apart of this experience. Tons of fun for our family with two young boys. We should have booked longer than two hours, but we had a time constraint. In our time, we were able to find a clunker, a picker, and some smaller flakes. Totally worth it.

We had a wonderful experience. They take your directly to the river and set up a whole operation. You keep what you unearth and the our guide, James had a true love of the land and history of the rocks. We learned a lot and now have basic knowledge to prospect wherever we go. Definitely recommend the whole day experience. 👌
