I recently moved to San Diego and was in search of a gym to train at. I tried out many other places in the area but none compare to the perfection that is Blue Ocean Muay Thai. I have been training for 7 years and Kru Alex shows techniques daily that i have never seen before. His attention to detail and genuine longing for his students to improve is unparalleled. More than an instructor though, Alex is genuinely a great person. He wants nothing more than to see his students succeed and builds a genuine friendship with everyone that surrounds him. I would highly recommend this gym to anybody in search of a place to train ranging from all skill levels. After returning from Thailand where I lived for almost two years, working and training / fighting Muay Thai, I wanted to find a gym in here San Diego to continue my training. Alex is more than a Kru (teacher in Thai), his passion for the art is evident in everything he does, from his teaching to his dedication to his fighters and gym members. Blue Ocean is more than a gym, it's a family, and I am blessed to be a part of it. Two years ago I began looking for gyms to train at. What I was mainly looking for was a gym with a highly qualified trainer that knew what he was doing and actually cared about the progress of the students. When I first started training with Krug Alex Palma, I was hooked. He explains techniques very well and how to execute them. He's very knowledgeable in both Traditional and Dutch Muay Thai and has also fought professional in Europe. The things I love most about training with Kru Alex and the rest of the Blue Ocean Muay Thai Gym is that you will feel like family when you start training with everyone, your technique will get so much better, and your fitness will sky rocket. Everyone is always so helpful at this gym. The only way you won't get any better is if you don't attend classes. Training with the Blue Ocean Muay Thai group changed my life for the better. I have way more confidence and belief in myself, I'm way more physically fit than I've ever been in my life, and I have a group of people I can call my family. Try this place out. Alex is truly a special man. A humble man with huge accomplishments under his belt. He is the striking coach for UFC fighter Mark Munoz and many more exceptional pro fighters, and at the same time makes every effort to be there for every one of his students. Words cannot describe how awesome both Alex and Holly are. Alex lives for his students no matter what their goals are and what background they may have. You can be sure he will bring the best out of you. He brought the best out of me that is for sure. He has been there for every one of my fights no matter how small or big they were. I honestly have never met a trainer like him. He loves his students and he truly helps them grow to be better people. My words are not enough, you have to meet this amazing man and understand what I mean. He is a true friend and someone whose qualities I aspire to have. Holly is just as amazing, she really finds a way to push you physically in all her classes. I always feel like I did serious work after one of Holly's Zero Fit classes. I am so blessed to have found this gem of a gym.
