My car had an oil leak (5 quarts lost in about 2 months). I had booked an appointment to have the car looked at at Route 20 Automotive, which as it turns out, has the same address as Route 20 Tire and Wheels. When I went in to have the car serviced, I was told by Scott that Route 20 Automotive was a 10 minute drive, and agreed to do the work under the premise that I had booked the appointment there based on the proximity to where I work. He told me that he would need to perform an engine wash to determine the source of the leak. He told me that he performed the wash and charged me $30 for it and told him to take it back to him in a week. One week later, I again brought the car to be looked at and he told me that there was no sign of oil anywhere on the engine. At this point I had lost almost a quart of oil. The following day, I took the car to a reputable mechanic that my family has been using for over 20 years to get a second opinion. He informed me that the entire engine was covered in oil and dirt, to the extent that they would need to perform an engine wash to detect the source of the leak. At this point it became clear to me that an engine wash was not performed at all, even though I was charged $30 for it. The following week I returned to Scott to give him another chance to follow up for the services he had supposedly performed. Instead, he lied again, telling me that there was no oil on the engine. After taking the car back to my mechanic and confirming once more that the engine had not been washed, I called Scott and confronted him about the matter, explaining that what he had told me did not hold water. I requested that he refund the $30 that he had stolen from me, and he refused. I will be following up in small claims court. I don't recommend this guy to anyone who isn't in the market to get screwed over.
