Brought a car here because it was rattling. They determined the engine needed to be replaced - $4000. My father in law took a look at the engine. The rattle came from a loose filter cap! He tightened the cap, no more rattle!

I highly recommend Midas in Groton. I recently moved to the area and have utilized this Midas several times. Candi and Danielle, the service advisors/managers, are always friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They have worked me in at times even without an appointment, and they try and keep the costs lower by checking around for the best prices for parts. They also offer a 10% veterans discount, which being a veteran, I appreciate. The mechanics, too, have also always treated decently. They oftentimes will speak directly with me, listen to my concerns, explain their findings, and make helpful recommendations. I have come to believe those staff members I have interacted with are genuine and not out to price gouge me or try and sell me unnecessary parts and/or services. And I say that as a very untrusting and skeptical combat vet, one who will not return to a car repair shop (or any business) if I sense the staff are disingenuous or trying to price gouge me or others. (Pep Boys on Gold Star Highway fits that bill. I will never return to that place. The staff members are unfriendly and act as if you're bothering them; they're disorganized; the computer software they use is slow and glitch-heavy; they price gouge, for example, wanting over twice as much for replacing a valve cover gasket....) and I brought my '97 Camry into Midas recently for an alignment and was advised by Kevyn, the mechanic, that my front struts needed replacing, not a shocker, and the rear struts should probably be replaced soon, and he recommended not aligning it until these were replaced. I invested in the struts, had the tires balanced and the wheels aligned and watched Kevyn test drive the car. I then drove home and it drove much better but I noticed that it still pulled to the right. I returned the next day and explained the alignment was still off, and they had no problem realigning the car and installing a complimentary sway bar. The mechanic test drove it and said it seemed fine. I drove it home and along the way again noticed the car pulled to the right. I returned the next day, explained the alignment was still off, and they worked my car in immediately. Kevyn, the mechanic, and I test drove the car and he affirmed that it indeed was still not aligned. He aligned it again, test drove it, then put it back on the alignment machine where it showed it was already out of alignment! Kevyn rechecked the vehicle, consulted with another mechanic, and diagnosed a problem with the steering system. I left disheartened and frustrated wondering if the problem was beyond their skill level. New struts and a sway bar didn't do it...so now a recommended new steering system and tie rods? I was headed to another shop. Mr. Childs, the owner, had sent me several emails concerning my experiences at his Midas shop and I eventually responded with my alignment plight and expenditures to date. Shortly thereafter, Candi called me and offered to provide complimentary repairs to correct the alignment issue, which they did. (They worked on my car for two days.) My point here is that the owner and staff will do whatever it takes to provide the best customer experience possible. Problems arise in the car repair business and when they do, this business will work to keep you a loyal customer. The staff I dealt with were easy to work with, and I like that. I don't know about the rest of the staff, but the managers and owner are top notch. Excellent customer service especially when I needed to return the vehicle after test driving it for a week. The Midas in Groton has been at their current location for 50 years or so, so I trust them with my vehicle repairs and they never let me down. I always have a positive experience here. Personally, I believe that the most important part of a business is their customer service because without customers, they would cease to exist. In my opinion, I would say that this business agrees. I have never left feeling disrespected or like their time was more important than me. As a mom of young kids, I often go places feeling like a burden but when I am here, I never feel judged or belittled when my kids are being kids. The woman at the front desk is always so friendly and helpful. The technicians always seem to be working hard and seem to have a good attitude although I have never personally interacted with them. I have been to other places where you can hear them complaining from the back and talking bad about customers in front of other customers. If they are doing that here, I cannot tell you because they don’t do it out front. The reason I took off a star is because it does seem like I am waiting for my car longer than I expect to (two hours for an oil change and emissions test) however, I don’t mind because I am a patient person and I always schedule ahead on days that I don’t have anything going on. Also, I have no experience in the auto shop business so I can’t speak to how long anything should take. I would absolutely recommend this auto shop before any others in Groton. Thank you so much for your excellent service!

I had recently visited the Midas in Groton to have my battery replaced. They originally charged me 39.99 for a battery test, and then charged me to replace the battery. I first would like to say that charging your customers 39.99 just for a test which should be free and then charging the rest of the battery is outright ridiculous. I feel that I was taken advantage of and will not be coming back here again! The service was quick the day I went but it didn’t hit me until I got home that day and looked at my receipt. If you have a promotion going on INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS OR PROVIDE THE TEST FOR FREE. I spoke to Carlos from corporate who was very nice, but I will NOT be coming back here again!

Quality service when all was said and done and the price was what you could expect for quality service from a name brand place like Midas but the staff was uncoordinated and very unprofessional. What should've been a quick fix turned into 2 days of waiting for parts and then scheduling mechanics all while I wasn't called with any updates. The only information I got was when I called them. I finally got the call to come pick up my truck only for them to say they forgot to do the fuel injection service and had me sit there for another hour. I got what I paid for but I'm not planning on coming back when there's dozens of more reliable shops in the area that seem more interested in customer service interaction. Service: Engine repair

I Was at another closer to home Ct Emissions testing center today and was told the entire state online service was shut down and testing wouldn’t be possible... As I was leaving I decided to call Midas right around the corner in Groton on RT-12 They very kindly answered and told me apparently the system had a problem earlier but they rebooted the system and they were up and running... Just wanted to say thank you for not giving up and blaming it on lack of laziness like the other place did. I was in and out of there in 10 mins even after being told about 15 mins wait time... A+++ everyone wearing a mask and practicing great social distancing ... Excellent 5 Star Customer Service !!!!
