Came here for lunch after a local boat and train excursion. There were 5 of us in our party. My nephew got the big pretzel as an appetizer. This was excellent! Among our group 2 of us got chicken 1 person got fish 1 person got a Burger and I got the peach grilled salad with shrimp. We all very much enjoyed our food. My niece got the cheesecake for dessert and she liked it very much. It's a great atmosphere inside. It's decorated to kind of make you feel like you're in a medieval castle hall or banquet area. But with modern touches. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Service was most efficient. We enjoyed our visit.

Ordered the SPT wings expecting them to be some sort of special sauce but they were just mild buffalo. The chicken was barely edible. The wings were not fried enough. Too expensive for the quality of the food. I will definitely never go back to this place.

Scotch Plains Tavern helped host a reception for a first communion. From start to finish, Steve and the staff made the day very easy. The service was world class. The food was incredible. Would definitely recommend for any party.

The service was good but the hamburger I ordered was terrible. I ordered medium and it came out well done. It was served by the waiter with the top part of the bun off. I could clearly see that it was burnt and I’m sure the waiter could also. He obviously didn’t care. by the way the place was basically empty so there was no real accuse. I won’t be back

All good & satisfied It’s a large restaurant with both indoor & outdoor sittings. We were there on Wednesday night for dinner. It was moderately busy. We sat inside as it was cold outside. Sittings are specious & not congested. They also have pool table and we enjoyed the live music. We had Argentinian beef barbacoa & plantains, SPT Mozzarella & Focaccia, Soup, Fish & chips. Food was very good. Even though Argentinian beef barbacoa & plantains were from small plates section, the amount was not small. Very large menu, plenty of options to select from. Our server Matt was very polite, helpful & friendly. I would come back & recommend this restaurant.

Love this place. Great food, and some unique items like Barbacoa and plantain. I was disappointed with the clam chowder on most recent visit, more like a potato chowder, had to search for clam bits. Good flavor though

We stopped by here on the way home from Essex to New Haven. Good beer and wine selection. Ribs and steak were done perfectly.

Nice service and the food is decent. We had a burger and a crispy chicken sandwich which were both good. Sitting outside was very nice and the love music was fun to listen to. The proportions of our food was decently big for the price which was nice.

Service was great, food pretty decent. With limited vegetarian options, I wanted to try the falafel but unfortunately it was not available. I was a bit surprised that a place self proclaimed as a “tavern” has such a limited selection of draft beer. You can expect the standard domestics, plus Stella and Guinness. Bottle selection about the same. The coffee is terrible.
