The Great Bicycle Shop has "hands down" the best experience in regards to myself and my bike since I moved to Tallahassee in 2020. The employees are very relaxed and chill, but ensure that customer satisfaction is established. No matter what the case may be. For example, try it out, not satisfied then come back and let's talk. Earlier this year, the shop did a full tune up on my 1999 Giant model. My bike has been essentially brand new with no issues. New tires, gears, brakes, etc. I have not purchased a bike from their shop, but they are well stocked with many models. My personal favorite is Giant. Overall, I highly recommend this business; unfortunately I cannot go beyond 5 stars.

Everyone that works here is super helpful. Any issue that I had with my bicycle, they helped me get it right and explained to me exactly what was going on. I live almost an hour away from this shop, but I would drive here for any of my needs before stopping somewhere closer to home. Thank you Doug and everyone else here. You definitely have a customer for life.

Just left the bicycle shop very disappointed. Walked in and not a word was said to my wife or myself. Been wanting to get back into biking again. Already knew what I wanted for myself, the ROAM 4 GIANT. The wife wasn’t sure what she was interested in. Not once did staff ask if we needed help, try any bikes out etc. It wasn’t really busy either. I will be doing business elsewhere, did not feel very welcomed in that atmosphere. Your loss. Missed out on an opportunity for a two bike guaranteed sale. 😕

I reached out to these guys for my FSU student who had mangled assembly of her bike. Both manager James Olmstead and employee Luca were very helpful! They were extremely fast in responding and got her rolling in a day! I will be a customer for life.

Read this before you rent ebikes... We rented ebikes for a couple days. We are so excited. The process of renting them was super easy! However we found out e bikes cannot be put on the normal bike rack because of their weight. So we missed part of our rental day running home to get the trailer. The bike shop recommended stacking them on their sides on top of one another and strapping them down tight! That did not work well. They shifted and we almost spilled them on Magnolia during rush hour. It was better to get more straps and put two on the front and two across the back (of each bike) and leave them standing but unable to move (like dirt bikes). Loved the service we got here otherwise. Some things to note if you are considering renting the ebikes... 1. They need charged after a long day. We had two bikes but one charging cord. Plan accordingly. There is a plug for the battery behind the front tire on the frame of the bike. The batteries last a long time when they are fully charged. 2. They need a trailer to haul. Be prepared for this. They are too heavy for the bike racks and too big to put in our SUV. The back of a pickup would work. 3. The best way to rent them is for two days on a Friday. They are due back Monday morning then. The business is closed on Sundays. This costs us approximately $130. 4. Bikes are waterproof. We rode through the afternoon monsoon here and the bikes didn't falter. I'm not sure these bikes would do well off road or on a sandy track. We didn't even try. When we buy our electric bikes we are coming back. In the meantime we will rent again soon and you should try them out.

Back in December of last year I went to GBS looking for an entry level mountain bike for under $800. This was when you couldn't go in the store, but the nice young lady that helped me pointed me in the right direction. She suggested I get a Giant Talon 2, which I did. Because of covid delays I got the bike in April. I rode the trails in Tallahassee, especially loving Munson Hills. I realized some of the more rugged trails, such as Redbug and Lafayette Heritage would require a full suspension. I was taking my Talon in for a small tune up and asked about getting a full suspension bike. After looking through the computer I was told the wait would be a while because of the huge demand in bikes. That's of course no fault of GBS, so I was fine with waiting. Luckily however, the person at the counter noticed that they'd gotten a Giant Stance in. It was a small frame with 27.5 tires. After checking to see if it was spoken for, he said it was available. It was still in the box so I left while they assembled it for me to test ride. I came back later in the day and tested it out. I bought it that day and have been riding nearly every off day and in the mornings before work. I'm just waiting on my dropper post to come in. If you're looking for a great place to buy a bike, have one worked on, or just for knowledgeable staff The Great Bicycle Shop is the place to go. Thanks GBS! Update: Once again TGBS has taken care of me. I was in the market for a road bike and read about the Giant Contend AR1. I needed it in an XS frame, but unfortunately the shop did not have any and wasn't expecting any anytime soon. After a little research we found a place out of state that had one. Doug, who's always super cool and helpful spoke to the other shop and helped to arrange me getting it shipped here. I bought the bike from the other shop, but my business will continue with TGBS. The rest of the staff are always so nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. If you're in the market for a bike, or simply looking for a place to maintain your current bike, then The Great Bicycle Shop is the only place to go. Thanks y'all!

Very knowledgable of all things bikes. Everyone working there rides. Have nice little area to ride bike . Had all the extras I needed to complete my bike. Excellent repair service too. Lots of people came in to get bikrs adj..etc. Doug P was a great help. Definately recommend. Didnt feel like they were just selling.

Rented two mountain bikes for my teenagers online. Bikes were safety checked and ready to go when we arrived for our reservation time, a little early I might add. Service was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Thank you for a great experience!

I'm a Sarasota-based travel writer and reached out to The Great Bicycle Shop to see if they'd be interested in taking part in my article about fun things to do in Tallahassee. Manager James Olmstead came in on a Sunday morning to accommodate us. Then, I got a flat tire half an hour into our ride--and he came out in his car to fix the flat! Olmstead's effort from start to finish spoke volumes about his worth ethic--and the can-do attitude of this great bike shop. Please support these good people!
