I've had the pleasure of shopping here for years. It's not only the best mystery bookshop around, but one of the best bookshops bar none. Each time I arrive I'm enthusiastically greeted by the owner and we have wonderful discussions on a subject truly cared about within these walls. I have them to thank for my Agatha Christie obsession adopted during the pandemic and always find my way back to support them by picking up a new book. Not to mention they have discussion groups, signings, and other events throughout the year. Looking forward to being a devoted customer here for years to come!

What a great specialty bookstore! I am a "history guy" and so there was plenty for me to like in 'Centuries & Sleuths.' When I asked about local history, the owner recommended a very interesting little book about the cemeteries of Forest Park. His description of it was so compelling that I bought it on the spot! He was super friendly, and even included two uncirculated 2009 cents in the bag with the purchase - coincidentally my son collects coins, so it was a win-win! Highly recommended!

This is such a charming place! I wandered inside a few weeks ago looking to kill some time and ended up having a pleasant conversation with the shop owner, who is extremely knowledgeable and personable. I left with a historical book he recommended as well as one that caught my eye and look forward to coming back again!

My husband and I were in the area getting my car serviced and I'm so glad we happened upon this bookstore. They have a really great selection of books in both mine and my husband's favorite genres and the whole store in general has a very magical & curious feel. The owner is very kind, friendly & helpful. I've already recommended the store to a friend and will definitely come back every time we have to get my car serviced 🙂

Although a niche subject I truly believe that this bookstore has something for everyone. And pleasantly surprised to see such a great kids section. The owners were so welcoming and open to questions. I would to see them expand their true crime section in the future!

Charming independent bookstore focused on mystery and history genres, thoughtfully curated. I always appreciate the warm welcome and helpful advice of the owner. I always leave with something, whether it’s a new novel or something from the $5 book bundle table. Don’t miss out on a delightful experience!

I have long loved this bookstore for its selection of mysteries and histories. While I'm not a Sherlock Holmes guy, there's plenty for those who are fans. The shop is cozy and inviting, and it has long held the most extensive collection of those historical coloring books for kids. The owners do a terrific job of cultivating local authors, sponsoring countless events and contributing much to the Forest Park scene.

Years ago when the bookstore was on Garfield near Oak Park Ave. I met Peter Ustinov and Paul Simon at the book event. Now in Forest Park they are still having wonderful book signings and mystery and history which is so important for our area, and for our collective memory. Today I was there to gather historical stories by Harriette Gillem Robinet for a great-grandchild. I could have talked a lot longer with the bookseller August Paul Aleksy of history, mystery, and the important stories we all need.

This place is more than just books! Aside from the mystery and history, including the $5 bundle, there are historical coloring books and there are jigsaw puzzles! I can't imagine where I could find another World of Dickens jigsaw puzzle. Things that I didn't buy are already calling me back to the store. Also Augie is awesome !

This is a gem of a bookstore. I always fine great gifts here, but this week I went shopping for me. They are ordering some books for me in a series I wanted to follow up on, and I found plenty to read in the meantime. Augie & Tracy are wonderful resources if you need recommendations. A little but mighty bookstore!
