Thank you for all the staff from the reception team to lab nurse, especially to Dr. Miller and Nurse Holden who took care of me during my emergency. Wait time were well compensated due to the kindness of these people. I feel comfortable and safe. Dr. Miller took his time to explain everything- he did not rush in checking me and answeed all my questions. He did even help me find a clinic where I can do a ff up check up. Thank you, Doc and God bless you all.

So many things were red flags when we went to the ER. 1 big one: a woman was in ACTIVE EARLY labor with contractions less than a minute about. She was 23 weeks pregnant. She sat in the ER for 15 minutes before someone took her back!!! Secondly, my injury was not life threatening so the wait taking forever made sense. My complaint is not around that. I had a severe cut that wouldn’t stop bleeding at home for 45 minutes. After waiting another 4 hours in the ER it was still bleeding. The doc sprayed some water on it, told me “you’ll live” and sent me on my way … still bleeding. My knee has NOT closed >1 week later and got badly infected. A second facility had to “fix” what they neglected to take care of. The dead skin that was a result of my injury had to be removed since it was decaying on my open wound causing the infection. A butterfly stitch was added to attempt to close the would, but since so much time has passed it will never heal completely. I will have an ugly scar and need you keep it covered until my body repairs what it can. The ER nurse, Joy, was phenomenal though. Very helpful and compassionate. She’ll be able to help more in a better facility. No complaints about her.

2017 review (still want to compliment them five years later after Gmail address closed): I had a family member who was sent here twice (once in 2010 and another time in 2015), and both times she was treated incredibly well. The nurses are accommodating, gentle, friendly, professional, always return phone calls, and neat. The only time I ever saw a nurse get weird was when she was mad at my family member for throwing dirty towels in the garbage can instead of waiting for them to be washed (and that was justified although the nurse just made a face but never said anything aloud). Other than that, I can't compliment the place enough. That same family member has come here plenty of times for follow-up appointments. I won't lie and say the family member wasn't ready to go the moment she stepped foot into the hospital, but it was more about being at home and less to do with the actual hospital. I wasn't particularly thrilled with one GI doctor's insistence on the family member using steroids although she said she was hallucinating. I took a stand on that and told that GI doctor that either they were going to have to lower the dosage or she wasn't going to take it. That particular doctor was giving me lab rate vibes and forgetting that this person was a human being who didn't want to hallucinate in order to feel better. I had a small spat with a nurse who sided with the doctor but stood my ground on that one. Luckily, the smaller dosage STILL worked and the hallucinations stopped. I am a little concerned that for patients who don't have family members who will stand up for them that this lab rat vibe may happen more than it should, but I think that's with any hospital, not just South Suburban. But still overall, this family member had two major things happen to her so I kinda sorta understood where the doctor was coming from. And she left in pretty much good shape. No bed sores. From a glance at her, you'd never know she was even sick. It was a very accommodating place. I still go there on occasion to hang out with the stroke survival group, who I HIGHLY recommend for anyone who needs companionship after someone has a stroke. The group is welcoming, honest, and funny. And the speech therapists are phenomenal too.

My daughter went in to the urgent care/ER and was basically ignored. No one at the admitting desk wanted to do their job. The two employees looked at each other and simultaneously asked “are you GONE take her. She has signs of a mild stroke-yet that didn’t matter. I’m too frustrated to even continue with the poor service we received-if you can-GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION!

My mom was brought here after a nursing home gave her covid. The staff was good to her and our family. She died in 2 weeks but received great care. I am now at advocate for double pneumonia. ER is understaffed. The nurses and doctors are doing their best with the resources they have. ❤️ I am checked in and receiving outstanding care from the nurses and doctors.

I had an appointment for an echo cardiogram 5/4/22 and AL S. was such a great technician. He was wonderful at his job, let me see my heart and we chatted during my appointment which made me feel so comfortable. I appreciate his kindness and professionalism and I definitely think that department has a great employee!

Came in with a client experiencing SI(suicidal ideation). We have been here since 1:30pm, it is now approaching 11:30pm. The story is that they are waiting on the evaluator. Allegedly the psych doctor left before they received the message that there was a SI patient. I asked the nurses at 6 what was happening & they said they were on the phone with someone right now and would update us before 7pm shift change. No updates and the new nurse still hasn’t come to check on us. There’s a “sitter” who said the nurses are busy. My client is crying , in more distress now than before they came in. I’m so angry. To leave a person experiencing a mental health crisis just sitting with no follow up is disappointing. I hope they never get to this point again because they surely will not come to a hospital after this terrible experience. Your poor care may cost someone’s life! There isn’t enough room to talk about the nurses poor reaction when learning that my client was presenting with SI. This experience overall has been way below average.

Er is so slow. Me and my son been waiting for 10 hours he was having a fast heart rate up to 130-140 and dizziness. They took X-ray and ekg and had us just sit there while he’s uncomfortable for 10 hours without asking are we ok or anything. We literally watch the whole entire er dump out and still no doctor came to see us. She literally walked pass us 50 times as if we didn’t exist while she help other patients that came in after us. So sad I will never come back here for an emergency again.

Avoid them. If you can, go somewhere else until the myriad of problems there are remedied. No particular field, it’s all full of problems. So. Many. Unacceptable. Problems. After mom was taken there by ambulance. We faced meanness, disrespect, lack of communication, condescension, lack of adequate care. It was awful to face condescension and irritability from a Dr while our family is in crisis over the health of mom. We changed service providers and now know a completely night and day difference.
