The Old Colonial Inn is a very nice little restaurant, and my wife and I had a great time. The restaurant is located inside of an old hotel, and if you like historical settings, then you'll love the vintage feel of this place. The hotel rooms don't seem to be used for anything anymore, although it seems like it would make a great B&B. They have a small but tasty menu of dishes, and the prices might be a tad high, but not terrible. The size of the portions could be a little bigger, especially the salads, which seemed unusually small for some reason. The quality of the food, however, was first rate. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, and there are several rooms available. This gives it a feeling of being nicely intimate, without ever feeling crowded, since they can spread guests out into other rooms as needed. The bar room is nice and the staff were friendly. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. However, at these prices, mostly I would go for special occasions, like dates or anniversaries. If I was just hungry and wanted a good meal, I would probably go to the excellent family restaurant just down the street.

Great upscale restaurant in downtown Kentland. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent and the cocktails, many of which are house specialties, are generously poured. Ask the owner, Mike, for a wine pairing recommendation, he is always happy to help.

What an amazing place! Beautiful, well-restored old hotel, full of neat historical photos. But the best part is the food! Our dinners were cooked to perfection, and presented with impeccable, friendly service in a wonderful setting. So many terrific choices on the menu, it's hard to pick one. You won't find a better meal in Chicago! And did I mention the reasonable prices?? And the neat bar scene? I'm not sure how it took us so long to find this classic gem, but we'll be back again and often! Make Kentland your next dinner destination. You won't regret it.

I absolutely love this place! I come here every 6 months to do work as a contractor and the kitchen is ALWAYS spotless and sanitary and the owners are absolutely amazing people! Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try! Support local, family owned business!

This review isn't about the food. Web site says, "Reservations Preferred," not "Required." My nephew and I stopped by after the Purdue game because our favorite restaurant in Fowler was closed. We found a sign posted on the door saying reservations were required. Deciding to give it a try anyhow and since there appeared to be several empty tables, we thought maybe there were cancellations. I was very curtly told there were no exceptions. No "Sorry," or "Please come back another time." This is Kentland, Indiana, not Rodeo Drive. We had a nice meal elsewhere.

Food was great. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. We showed up without reservations and they found us a spot. Also found out that even though they don't open until 5:30PM, you can call and leave a message to make a reservation, which we will be doing next time!

We happened upon this place when the restaurant that we were planning on going to was closed unexpectedly. What a fantastic surprise! Food and drinks were excellent. The service was fantastic. The decor was lovely! I heartily recommend this restaurant!

While everything was good, there was room for improvement. We are fairly new to the area and no one asked why we were there. I would have gladly shared the fact we were celebrating our 33rd anniversary. The water also had a strange smell and taste. Oddly enough, after a filet and lobster tail, salad, potato and bread, I was not full.

Very cool place for dinner. The staff seems very friendly and intuitive. I wish there was a little better appetizer menu. Best thing on it is the shrimp. The mushroom are deep fried and for a nice place such as this I think a better option can take it's place. Bacon wrapped dates maybe. Or even some sort of sauteed mushroom. Big portobello maybe? The steaks were great and so were the sides. Very simple. Wine list was also very nice. Definitely will return.
