I hope the skills to give care and help animals are better than their customer service/people skills. I could write a news article about what transpired between these grown adults and my children, when an animal was thrown out in my front yard and abandoned and my kids brought it here for help. We could do better Grant County, seriously and these people represent your community.

Staff is RUDE. Especially Kathy, she instantly had an attitude when she answered the phone, and when I went in she was even more rude. She was condescending and disrespectful towards me and the other woman in the building. Do not go here unless you want an instant headache. Would give 0 stars if I could. I just hope they treat the animals better than their human guests.

The Women at the Shelter showed much compassion and concern for the animals. And the Animals were so precious I would have taken them all with me if I could..🙏💜🙏 I Pray that God Blesses them all to safe warm hearted homes. Amen..

I adopted from grant county animal shelter in November of last year. He was the best cat anyone could have asked for as a first pet. Sadly, after having him for 9 months and loving him so much, I had to put him to sleep. He suddenly became extremely ill, stopped eating and drinking water, and after taking him to the vet for blood tests discovered that he had feline leukemia. I loved him dearly and was glad for the time I got with him. However, the shelter never informed me that these tests had not been done. Therefore I, having seen that they keep their animals up to date and vet checked, assumed he was checked and fine. That was not the case and sadly, I lost my first pet. I did talk with the owner of the shelter who was incredibly kind, but informed me that they only check if the cat appears sick as it is expensive, something I can vouch for having to get the test done the day before I got the news. I wanted to post this as a warning. So if you adopt from them just know to have the test done, just in case, as a preventative measure. They have a wonderful staff, just wish I had had more time with my cat.

My fiance` had a medical emergency on Monday evening and had to be taken to the hospital. She had her service dog in the car with her and had to be take to the shelter. That evening they were extremely uncooperative and would not allow us to pick her up until the next day. We live in Nicholasville and had to drive back up to Williamstown to get her the next day. When someone has a medical emergency and the dog that has been taken in is a service dog the person is not supposed to be away for the animal for a period of time. I only give them 3 stars because they did not charge us for the overnight stay. They also let us into the shelter about 15 minutes before they opened.

Worst place in grant county . Staff is rude especially when your not talking to them directly. They don’t take all dogs in , I rescued a dog and they told me to go to Boone county even tho I live in grant and the dog is from Gallatin county ! And a lot of people I know have had worse experiences there to dealing with them !

Poorly managed!! Don’t waste your time trying to adopt from here. Was told on the phone animals couldn’t be placed on hold and needed to arrive at opening time to try and adopt. I arrived 25 minutes early and sat outside closed gate waiting for them to open. I was told from worker who opened the gate 15 minutes before opening that animal was already being adopted. When asked how because they weren’t even opened yet she responded “someone squeezed through gate early and was already inside adopting animal.” Clearly they bend the rules for who and what they want to.

We adopted a beautiful 8 y/o brindle pit. Everyone here seemed as though they actually care about the animals. Great place to go for a new pet/family member. Definitely recommend.

Our farm has, sadly, been a dumping ground for cats for over 20 years and we've struggled to keep their population in bounds. The free Spay-Neuter programs the Shelter offers have been high-quality, convenient and very well-organized. Recently they offered to help with this Summer's crop of kittens. They deserve everyone's support!

Completely inconsistent and rude. We had an injured cat show up at our house. We took him to the vet and got him fixed up. Unfortunately we can not take care of him until he recovers. We called this shelter ahead of time and asked if they would be able to take care of him until he recovers, we had the medication and everything. The guy on the phone said that it wouldn’t be a problem and to bring him in. Today we brought him up and they said that there was nothing they could do. They lied, and now I don’t know what to do with this poor cat.
