Thieves!
One month ago, I brought my truck in for an oil/filter change and my lifetime alignment, and asked the techs to diagnose my check engine light for the cylinder #5 misfire.
They charged me $100 for the diagnosis, and then $600 to replace the plugs, wires and run a fuel system cleaner through it (which after checking my files, they just did 40,000 miles ago).
I parked the truck in my garage.
One week later, I go start the vehicle, and the check engine light comes back on for the same reason. So I drive back to the shop, and they charge me another $500 to replace the fuel injector in cylinder #5.
I park the truck in my garage for another week. And then, when I go to start it last weekend, the check engine light comes on again for the same reason.
So yesterday, I took the truck back to the shop and they kept it overnight. Now today, they tell me it's losing compression in cylinder #5, probably due to bad rings, and I need an engine rebuild.
I want to know why they didn't correctly diagnose the problem before charging me $1200 to just swap out parts.
I am on a fixed income, and cannot afford to have that kind of money stolen from me by shady mechanics.
I believe they intentionally and maliciously misled me, just to sell parts and labor.
Is this the level of service you ask your employees to aspire to too? Is this the kind of training in thievery Firestone provides to its employees..?
I demand a refund in full, or am going to file a complaint with the Dept of Consumer Affairs - Bureau of Automotive Repair.
