The two ladies working were very rude and unprofessional the other way when trying to mail my aunt a t shirt I got her. I went in today because the other day my card declined because I didn’t have enough money in my account to ship it, but had already used there bubble wrap. Today when I went back to pay for the bubble wrap, they told me “I thought I’d never see you again” and cracked some other stereotypical jokes as if I planned to steal there $3 and 99 cent bubble wrap. I would’ve payed for it that day and the $4 dollars but I was trying to ship so the total was closer to $30, and even though they had other customers they rushed me to leave because they had to “get home” and apparently I was the only one stopping them from doing so. I wish I would’ve gotten there names but did not. One was a brunette, older lady who seemingly was more polite today. But the other one, I think with blondish hair continued her start remarks and asked me several unnecessary questions. She even said, “well it worked” this time after I payed the $4 which I could’ve payed if they didn't basically kick me out so they could “go home” even tho others were still in there. It made me very uncomfortable, the lady asked me where I was going to be going and what I was doing for spring break which also didn’t sit well with me especially after the rude and terrible customer service. This was at my schools post office, here at the University of Illinois. I ensure to return as soon as possible to pay for the bubble wrap but didn’t peruse mailing from their just because the experience. As an African American male, I knew they thought my plan was to steal there $4!!!! Bubble wrap. Just because this discrimination, prejudice, and racist experience. I probably will never return there even tho I’ve had good experience with them previous years being a student here. I could’ve sent my aunt her shirt and phone but I can spend my $30 elsewhere and get better service from a baby. I also could instead by a $30 train ticket and take it to her instead. But, being at a university they are very entitled in the workplace and try to make you feel like you need them more than they need your service. So since this happened I will no longer use the US postal system unless necessary. I also won’t ever again return to this location unless necessary even tho I planned to continue using there service and even planned opening my PO Box with this specific location. I’m starting to regret going there and even spending $4. I wish I saw more minorities working in government spaces like so, because sometimes whites only see you for how you appear. If I were to go in there with any of my friends of lighter color, I ensure this type of service wouldn’t have been present. Period. Point. Blank. If you care about minorities and how we are treated here at a university I wouldn’t ask “Trina” for help, I went back to get her name in case anybody wants to know. The other lady was actually nice and kindhearted, just a little strict. But Trina, has some home issues she must be dealing with at work. ~Zion
