Update: The move went very smoothly, 5 stars. HOWEVER, once we started unpacking, we noticed three items that were missing - items packed by the company.
I contacted the driver and he said everything was delivered, so the missing items *must* be in our house or left in the house in Michigan.
Absurd. I contacted the company directly (agent) and they stalled at every turn, reiterating what the driver said - "she signed the papers". The numbers (300+) were called out quickly and many were duplicated. When I asked Steve about this he said John probably read the wrong number off the box.
Of note: This was a shared ride with 3 location drops, first to a warehouse in Jacksonville, second to a residence, and we were the last. I'm convinced my things are in the warehouse in Jacksonville. Some day the owner will collect their things and wonder where the extra 3 came from.
I contacted the Agent's home office and they assured me they would look into it, then came back and said there was nothing they could do. I contacted American Van Lines and once again, was assured a lot of things, but delivered nothing.
Lesson learned: No matter how bad they want to get that truck unloaded, I will never be pushed into checking off a number for something they packed until I inspect it. If a duplicate box number is called out, I will immediately stop the process until it is sorted out. This is only our 2nd move, the first was a corporate move and was awesome.
Original post - way too early and before reconciliation of our items:
Everything about our move was professional, and on time, especially given this time of the virus when we had to move. They communicated , regularly, did exactly what they said they would do, very punctual on both ends of the move, and took great care of our belongings. We could not be happier with Kevin, our first contact and estimator, and Steve and John who managed the loading and unloading. I canโt imagine anything else I would have asked for.
