My rating is not based on the store itself. It is based on employee behavior at the Ville Platte convenience store. I stopped to use the restroom (which was clean, fortunately) and make a beverage purchase at about 2:30 pm on Sunday June 13, 2021. A person who was using the restroom when I entered exited the stall as I did. At that time I noticed she was wearing a Y-Not uniform so I realized she was an employee. I stopped to wash my hands and she proceeded to the door without washing hers. I made the comment, “Aren’t you even going to wash your hands?” But she only glanced and walked out the door. When I walked back out to the store floor, she was behind the counter handling frequently touched items and serving hot food to several customers. I was horrified because they were none the wiser that the person serving them food did not wash her hands after using the toilet with no concern. Is there any idea how many people may get sick because of this. That tells me she does that all the time. There was another employee working the register as well and I’m positive she was unaware of her coworkers lack of sanitary precaution. I wanted to get the name of the employee but neither were wearing name tags. The only point of reference I have is that there were 2 female employees present behind the counter at the time I mentioned. One was African American and the other was Caucasian. It was the Caucasian female (light brown hair pulled back in a bun) who was the employee in question. I did make purchases, but it was all with unopened packaging and a fountain drink only handled by myself, and I made absolutely sure I was checked out by the other lady. I’m pretty sure that proper hand washing and sanitary precaution is required standard procedure at a business such as this. Because of what I witnessed, I doubt I’ll go there again. You can’t assume customers are not paying attention. Hopefully some employee monitoring, as well as retraining regarding proper procedure will take place.

Coffee was luke warm and the staff acted like they had better things to do than wait on customers. I stopped because Y Not Stop is usually a great place.
