I have been sick since Friday. Called the office on Friday to be seen by a provider, they had nothing. I was then instructed to contact Padonia GBMC, they had nothing either. I contacted GBMC Hunt valley Monday morning 10:50am as I am still very sick. They did offer me a video visit at 1pm, however, I requested to have a in office visit so someone can fully evaluate my symptoms(sore throat, coughing). The office informed me they could do an office visit and they would call me right back to verify. At 12.20pm I contacted the office to confirm my visit was in person, since I never heard back and I am 30 min away. They informed me that my visit was in fact a video visit. They told me they were too busy to give me a call back. I would also like to add I tested for COVID and it’s negative (the office knew that.) The person I spoke to was very rude and unhelpful. Did not listen to my concerns at all. I understand if there are certain precautions that need to be taken BUT you need to inform your patient of those protocols that are in place. As a patient of this practice for many years, I am very disappointed how this situation was handled. I LOVE the providers at this office but some of the front desk staff need to be more compassionate and caring. Take the time to explain your protocols so the patient can understand and not just feel that they’ve been ignored and brushed off. I understand you may be very busy and short staffed but please do not take your frustrations out on a patient

My experience with this practice has really gone from OK to terrible. I am a healthy individual and keep regular appointments. Last month, I experienced a severe and acute neuropathy which quick left me unable to dress myself, drive, or walk properly. I called the office when the symptoms began and started to worsen quickly. They could not see me for over a week but told me to call if things worsened. I did, but they could not see me sooner. I asked for a neurology referral and would not get one. Urgent care did not have the resources or knowledge to deal with my symptoms. When I was finally seen, I could barely lift my arms, could not drive, and knew something serious was going on. The doctor who saw me barely did an exam, and sent me home on prednisone. The words spoken to me were, “neurology will not help you.” Two days later I could not move my body in bed. I had my husband take me to the ER. A NEUROLOGIST was in the room within 25min. I was diagnosed with Guillan-Barre syndrome. The key to a good prognosis with this disease is early detection. My level of body paralysis was worse upon hospital admission and I was almost out of the window for the first-line treatment due to delays with this practice not recognizing a serious condition. This borders on negligence. I spent one month in a hospital. The final straw for me was follow-up after discharge. I am still handicapped and cannot drive. The practice calls me THREE HOURS before my 1:30pm appointment to tell me it’s during the physician’s lunch break, and could I instead come in at another time that day. Ridiculous. My husband arranged his work schedule to drive me. And this is inconveniencing the physician on her lunch. I am at my level of handicap due to their inability to recognize this serious condition at an earlier time. I will be changing practices.

Just had an appointment with Katherine Serio which was perfectly fine. Not the most knowledgeable about lab testing and scheduling so I had to educate her on that. The lab personnel, which I think is Quest Diagnostics, definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth for customer service. The woman called by a completely wrong name and only after I responded to her calling my last name did she say she had called me three times using the wrong name. When I told her I got no apology or clarification. When I had to inform her I needed a smaller needle for lab work there was no consideration or concern from her, rather felt like I was being intrusive to her. Not using their lab service anymore

Truly the best front desk staff and most courteous and responsive physicians I’ve ever dealt with. 10/10 would recommend. I also love their MyChart system, which conveniently allows online communication with my doctor. The doctors are very responsive on this system—I can message my doc from work without having to leave to use the phone, and always hear back promptly. It’s like finally, patient care has reached the 21st century!

I have been visiting GBMC Hunt Valley for nearly 9 years now. There are some good doctors there but I do not recommend Dr. Brown-both my husband and I did not have good experience with this doctor-he seems impersonal and does not appear to really care about his patients. When we brought in our nephew for a post surgery exam (he was living with us at the time and we had custody)-dr. Brown seemed more concerned whether or not the boy had insurance, than the actual patient and his needs. I had switched to seeing dr. Andreea Olaru and I am very happy with this doctor. She is very knowledgeable and thorough, ordering just the kinds of tests needed (even if I did not know which tests are needed for diagnosis). The only problem currently is the wait times for an appointment-2 weeks if you have an actual health issue (that's a long time if you are in pain), and 4 weeks for a physical exam.

I recently lost my health insurance and let me tell you, GBMC is not friendly to those without health insurance. One tiny piece of positive to note: they have income-driven payment options. However, good luck finding out what those costs will be BEFORE receiving treatment. I had flu symptoms and wasn't sure if it was bacterial or viral. Had to take a late PM appointment because my normal Doctor keeps 9-5 hours so I rarely see them unless I want to take a day off work (losing more pay) After the exam, which was just a bronchitis swab test, I was told by the reception the bill would be mailed to me in a few weeks. Asked if they could provide me with the charge now so I could be aware of it and prepare for the bill. Refused on the grounds their offices didn't know "the correct codes?" Gave me a number to call. Called it, was told by that office it was the wrong number and I had to call billing. Billing directed me to yet ANOTHER office...and around and around these calls went until I ended up leaving a message on someone's office voicemail then never hearing back. The bill came out to be around $200 btw. For a pat on the back and a cotton swab in the mouth. #AmericanHealthCare. Avoid this Hospital if you don't have health insurance. It's not patient-friendly.

Not happy with the services at this office. So now ive called for my test results for 4 days. Receptionist said dr hadnt checked my messages yet. She was going to ask the lab for my test results and call right back. 6 hrs later no call. They just sent me an answer on My Chart site. Im not on it yet takes a week or so to get your password info. So i called the office again. Schedule says they're open until 7pm. Answering service says they closed at 5. Never again. Thanks Dr Gorman for you concern!! Not!! Terrible place!!

Dr. Brown and his billing person, Michele, is not willing to work with my insurance company to correct their miscodings of my lab work for medical tests from September and November of 2017; therefore, my insurance refuses to pay either claim. Apparently, they do not understand how to do coding and after 2 tries, they still have it wrong. It is costing me $1,400 out of my own pocket and I have insurance that should have paid it. They refuse to return my calls after promises. I have been trying to get the billing person to work with my insurance company since December of 2017 and it is now June of 2018. I could not "even" get them to call me back, last week, to see if they intend to fix their mistakes before my insurance payments are closed out for last year. Then I have to pay the full bill from the lab, myself, without even my carrier discounting the over billed rates. Everyone at GBMC HV seems to keep defending the one and only "biller" at that office by saying she has personal issues and she's going through a lot. I have heard that, now, for 6 months. Dr. Brown assured me last November that he would talk to Michele about following up on my September lab work to correct and handle that billing. Sadly, that bill is still open and my carrier is still waiting for the revised coding as of last week. I have had to make more than 30+ calls to my carrier, the lab, and Dr. Browns office for over 6 months, now, trying to get this coding resolved, on my own, and pushing everyone to do their job. They just do not care what they are costing their patients!! I do want to thank Cindy and other receptionists. I have spoken to them many many many times over the last 6 months. They feel bad that they cannot help me. They just keep taking messages for Michele and Dr. Brown to call me back. I end up calling in over and over again because I cannot get those call backs. Be cautious!! It is very frustrating to know you have insurance and cannot use it because GBMC does not take coding issues seriously and does not want to hire capable billing people. I expected better from a hospital facility.

Every doctor I have seen there in almost 20 years has been above average in both clinical skills and interaction. A couple have been amazing in both respects; if I detailed for you why, you would probably just assume I was exaggerating. Regardless, giving this practice the excellent review it deserves is not in my best interest, if only because having more people looking to see them makes it worse for those of us who already do. Who wants more competition for appointments?
