Edit: DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!! I REALLY wish my husband would have read the reviews before dealing with these crooks. There were several red flags during the conversations with George about the quote difference between complete tear down and rebuild vs putting in a remanufactured transmission and the length of time they needed to complete the work which I questioned. Believe ALL of the reviews about the rudeness and unprofessionalism about Nick Thomas, the owner. George would not give his last name but stated “all phone calls are recorded”, which is illegal in Maryland without consent of both parties. (Use that info as you please in court for those suing them). Do yourself a favor and read the lowest reviews first so you can see the truth. Apparently they bribe customers with free oil changes for positive reviews as evidenced by quite a few comments on reviews including positive ones. Steer clear of Lanham Seabrook AAMCO/Star Valley Inc if you value yourself and your vehicle. They actually gave someone their engine back in a cardboard box in her backseat after a diagnostic stating she had to pay them to put it back the way it was before THEY tore it down. Nothing but crooks. ………. The communication here is lacking severely. Worker Nick Thomas (apparently the owner which I found out on my own) is very rude and demeaning. When told AAA would tow my vehicle to them, my husband was told that AAMCO would do it. No fees were mentioned. When we went to pick up the vehicle after my husband spoke to George again and was told there would be no fees, we were told to pay $150 tow fee to get my vehicle back. When questioned, Nick slammed a paper firm and yelled that we just had to pay it. When we requested paper showing mention of “fees”, we were again met with hostility by Nick. This went on for some time. I wouldn’t trust these people. Why would we agree to pay them to tow the vehicle when we have AAA which tows our vehicles for free? They are not honest and are very rude. We planned to return the vehicle to have the work done at a later date, but after the show that was put on and the money they duped out of us, we took my vehicle elsewhere. Beware of AAMCO Star Valley INC Lanham. They don’t deserve any stars. Not to mention the shadiness of the quotes and the length of time they wanted to keep the car. They told us 2 weeks. We took the truck elsewhere and will get it back in 4 days.

The service there at AAMCO is on the average, but not at all fast. Their service shop could definitely use some major upgrades to give their shop some appeal and the parking is very limited too.

I would consider myself a rather objective and cautious customer when handling my business. With my mechanic in particular because of my lack of experience with automobiles I ask every question that comes to mind before deciding. I preface with that to say I know when I am getting worked over, nonetheless my experience here was to be rivaled with a Michelin Star restaurant. I got my car towed in from the side of the beltway for a transmission failure. The only reason I went to this particular Aamco was because the tow guy (Bobs Wards Towing) recommended it and it was the closest to location. The place looked abandoned and pretty rundown so I got suspect upon arrival however I quickly found that looks are deceiving. I encountered George and he is a well spoken gentlemen very respectful that listens. After asking me screener questions about the vehicle, I left my vehicle to be inspected. I traveled for warmth on foot down the road until the inspection was complete. After about two hours my Ford Edge was diagnosed with Startup Misfire, Emission leak, and a fuel tank bleed. A careful review of my $3900 transmission repair estimate left me to deny their services and have my vehicle towed out to get a second look. This was a mistake. The next morning (they let me keep the vehicle their overnight free of charge) I got it towed to another Aamco and the results were the same. After an extra $500 and time wasted I ended up getting my insurance to tow my vehicle back to this location and opted for a reman transmission which cost an extra $2000. George and his team took about three weeks to complete my repairs but kept thorough communication and very clear options for repayment which I appreciated. My experience here was superb with George and the team offering exquisite service to a regular guy like me.

I took my car here because I was having transmission issues. I also needed a need radiator and cooling system. I decided to have their team take care of my Jeep. After being car less for two weeks and spending $4,000, my truck started leaking. I took my vehicle back to them and had to be car less for an additional three days for them to check the leak and see where it was coming from. Only for them to call me and say that my truck has a blown head gasket and I would need a new engine ($3,400). I thought to myself there is no way, my engine was fine before having them rebuild it. I decided to take my car back and get a second opinion. They lied! My engine was fine they were trying to get more money out of me and failed to mention that the leak was actually my water pump! Be careful, I would not go here again or recommend anyone to. P.S: I also found it very strange that they bribe their customers with a free oil change if they post a positive google review. Service: Transmission

I had serious leaking from transmission on my car and brought it to AAMCO on 2021, they changed my transmission, I took many day off from my job without pay, that's the only my transportation. My car was out & in for 6-7 times until this 1/19, it's still leaking. They don't care or lend me a car for my daily transportation while they're fixed my car. I wish I never came here at the 1st time, and I hope nobody have this experience ever. Be careful. Service: Transmission

The Gentlemen are professional and very pleasant. My first visit was with my Tahoe and then I brought my mother car the 2002 Ford Taurus which needed some major work done. The car would jerk when it came to pull-off after a stop and it was losing power going up hills and pulling out in traffic. I also needed to have the brakes checked due to brake pedal easing to floor when pushed. Services: Brakes, Steering & suspension repair, Engine repair, Transmission

My car was have trouble getting into first gear and just started jerking out of nowhere. I had it sent here and they got back to me the next morning letting me know a fuse had blown and was causing the issue. They fixed it free of charge. They were polite and responsive.

Destroyed My Car!!! I wish that I was able to give a negative star for this establishment. I brought in my car on 8/3/20 with a dead battery and some clutch issues. I made George very aware of of the issues and wrote them down on the initial paperwork. Later that day George called and said that I needed a new battery (not a shocker, I knew that). The next day he called and said in order to figure out the clutch issue that he needed to remove and inspect the engine. The cost would be $790 to do so for labor but the labor cost would go towards any repairs. The next day George called and stated that I needed a complete new engine and that he found one with less than 80k miles for $3000. What?!?! How did we go from small issues to a brand new engine? Plus $3550 in labor to install the new engine. I declined and told him that I would pick my car up (have it towed back to my home). When I arrived having to pay $905 for the new battery and labor I found half of my engine in a box in the back seat! I inquired and George told me that the "inspection" of the engine did not include putting the parts of the engine back. I have NEVER heard of such a thing and would have never agreed to such a thing. This place completely destroyed my car and half of my engine is in a box. I paid almost $1000 for them to take apart my engine and put it in a box in my back seat.
