Wow! We picked up some bread at Atlas Farm and I actually went to the trouble of looking this bakery up! Top bakery!!

Honestly cannot recommend. After multiple repeated tries I’ve found Rise Above to be far below the standard of bakeries elsewhere in the area. Given that it’s one of the few actual bakeries in town, I would expect them to fill the niche accordingly. However, from the unfriendly staff, extreme lack of product, and frankly inedible baked goods, I’ve been thoroughly disappointed.

In general, Rise Above is great little bakery but the one thing I really want from them is unfortunately where they’re lacking. Almond. Croissants. Rise Above’s almond croissants are consistently over baked, at times minutes away from being burnt. When the bottom of a baked good is hard as a rock, it’s overdone. This seems to be how they make their almond croissants, which is a major shame. I’ve been a baker for over 20 years and I’ve never seen a croissant so badly done.

Excellent chocolate croissants and breads. If you can't get to Greenfield, check out small markets in Amherst, Leverett, or Sunderland on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the Rise bread.

INCREDIBLE bakery! The only reason we made it through the pandemic. I love everything they make--we pick up a bread to go with dinner, croissants for breakfast, cookies or tarts (the frangipane tarts are magnificent!) for a treat. They also have coffee & tea: a one-stop for all your deliciousness needs.

I tried to find a way to add 100 extra stars to this review. Five stars are just not enough. Rise Above bakery is my favorite bakery! (With kudos to my dad who was also a serious baker and every weekend and woke us up with delicious smells of everything he'd been baking). I appreciate all of the local ingredients and farms that this bakery uses and supports. Rise Above has such a diverse range of deliciousness! Everything is beautiful,, yummy, and fun to share. And there's always something that lights up the kids! Apologies, I had to taste before posting :)

Amazing baked goods and bread!! The owner is fantastic. Wonderful service and atmosphere. They do not disappoint. Beautiful and tasty. I don't know how anyone could give this bakery less than 5 stars!

World class bread and pastries. I'm a food lover who has spent most of my life living in cities with great bread--NYC, Paris, San Francisco, etc.--and I go out of my way on my travels globally to find the best bakeries. My sister is a professional chef with a focus on bread. So I feel confident in saying that Rise Above offers bread and pastries to rival anything you will find at the best boulangeries in Paris. I've been buying their outstanding blackcurrant levain online via Sunderland Farm Collaborative and it is a staple for my family. Today was my first time actually going inside the bakery and as soon as I saw their pastries I knew this was a serious operation. I restrained myself to an initial sample of their pain au raisin, cardamom knot, and baguette, and was blown away by all of them. I hope that some day in the future they might also start offering espresso drinks as these pastries deserve to be paired with an equally great café crème or flat white. Do that and my head might explode with joy. But bottom line: this place is amazing and your life will be better if you go there!

I love, Love, LOVE this bakery!! What a great addition to our town. Their items are amazing, too. Online ordering and curbside pickup, they have adapted well the last hectic year. Kudos to all that make this GEM pull off wonderful food.

This place is adorable! The service is always super friendly. While we've yet to get anything here that wasn't absolutely to die for, our family's favorites include the chocolate chunk cookies, chocolate rye cookies, pretzel bagels, and the croissants. What's great about this place is they've got such a good mix of staples and rotating novelties (one time, they had this amazing lemon tart with berries thing) while maintaining a high standard for all of their goodies.
