With Covid I can understand a counseling service being busy. However I had to do a 1 hour intake where not the one that did the actual intake, but whoever answers for that dept, was rather rude, and very confused. Hung up on me the first time because I said I didn't need a psychiatrist, just a therapist-(which I was looking for as my old therapist quit during Covid at another place). She didn't take the time to hear that I was NOT looking for both. She was like "oh you don't need anyone, okay call if you do"...and hung up. Why would I have called days earlier if I wasn't looking? Told me she sent intake forms to my email, got defensive when I said I didn't get them. I am sure she forgot the number 1 after my email name but she was adamant that she sent it. There was no reasoning with her. Finally I told her send it to my husband, that might be easier for her. So she did, but not without arguing with him that she knew she sent it to my email. Mind you, this is a place that offers therapy but she was combative. Then when I did intake over the phone and on my ACTUAL paperwork I said I wanted under special requests "female" and "younger". I said that because I feel more comfortable with a female, and also the older staff seem more set in old ways, and I have dealt with that with my previous of 12 years so I didn't want to waste time. I get a call from a Carol there who was older she wasted the first 2 sessions telling me what she expected of me (do not miss 2 appointments) give her more than a 48 hour notice...which is all things I knew about that place. My husband went there so I know what they require. Kept lecturing me about respect but 3 times she was 10 minutes late to the telehealth session. That is okay though I guess, because she is allowed to be late, I was just told I couldn't be because her time was valuable. She would not let me get a word in edgewise. Asked me how I was doing, and then would interrupt me right after. Then wasted another session telling me about how insurance might not cover telehealth phone calls just video this fall, so I might want to think of doing video even though I told her we don't have any of that right now. THAT was also told to them on intake and on the intake forms. So they see what you need, and then totally don't care. The kicker is Carol was so worried about my past suicide attempts and how I am feeling now. Told her I would not be around come this November if things didn't change. I also told intake that. So when I felt like Carol was not a good fit, I called intake almost ready to cry and extremely aggravated, and said I needed someone new. I never got a call back. My husband called that day too-no call back either. Ignored. I had to complain elsewhere and all of a sudden they have a younger girl call who said she would get back to me as she was a therapist there. I called her back like she asked on 8/27 stating I was still upset that Riverside knew I had suicidal ideation and that I found it weird that all of a sudden after weeks of them blatantly ignoring me, my husband, and others --she was NOW calling several weeks later. So now she is ignoring me too. We have called to ask for the director tonight because this seems like they are playing a game in our opinion, and we know we won't get a call back from that person either. If you are feeling suicidal, this is NOT the place to call for help imo.

I was caught off guard by the personal and professional prejudice that I encountered from a psychiatrist and a therapist there at the clinic in Upton. The psychiatrist in one instance placed her hand upon by back and literally shoved me out of her office. She then closed the door without explanation. I communicated this to the therapist, that subsequently openly laughed at this affront. Medicines were meant as a means for someone to become stabilized in their mental condition until the point could be reached to develop a coping strategy without this being a long term solution. I am quite capable of handling my life experience without medicines being the source of my recovery process, as limited as it may be due to the length of time that I have been forced into continued medical treatment by members of my family that were not in a position to dictate to me or these medical professionals that were previously involved in my care to make their own assessment. I received no advocacy from the psychiatrist or therapist at the Riverside clinic in Upton in which fraud had been committed against me that culminated in two unnecessary hospitalizations. These were also expensive, and billed to my insurance. The family member that made these unauthorized decisions made known to me that she had committed this fraud seeking a validation from me in the justification for it. Even one of the Police officers stated to me: "Do not do this to us." ,meaning not to make their Department liable no matter which decision was made, as no crisis was involved. I was the one that fulfilled that extension of trust. These insults to my intelligence and coping effectiveness by this psychiatrist and therapist were not appropriate. Litigation to restrain my family member should have ensued to ensure that such uses of influence over my personal discretion could not be used to undermine my legal credibility with emergency services personnel. Instead I received a disapproval where none was warranted by this psychiatrist and therapist. I believe that it is safe to say that our professional relationship is over. I think that the sheer number of medical personnel that evaluated me for crisis intervention that determined that such did not exist comprise the interest in a resolution as to the abuse of personal discretion by my family member that should never have been allowed that malicious influence to be validated.

They have really good therapy services. Since October 2019, I've been there for counselling and they have been very helpful. Update: Very helpful that they have tele-health appointments during Covid-19
