Love the small town vibe and there is always something to do here. The food is amazing and their drink selection is superb considering its in a small town area. The staff are friendly and just make the overall experience amazing. I always visit when I'm in town.

Friendly outgoing weight staff. The salmon dip was served warm which was delightfully surprising, great bold flavor served with warm garlic toast. Their brisket was slightly dry but it was the last one of the day. I feel there is a missed opportunity considering that they have a smoker in the front but serve the brisket with bottled barbecue sauce. I forgot to take a picture but The brownie and ice cream was delicious.

Food is nearly inedible, I was charged for raw chicken I didn’t even eat, and when I told them I wasn’t paying they tried to pass it off on someone else at the table. service is slow, but you can tell the waitstaff are trying. You can tell the owners do not care about anyone who isn’t a drunken regular. You get no free refills on any soda, coffee, tea, juice, etc and if you order a water you’ll be waiting there thirsty for ever. I used to go her just for trivia but even that won’t keep me Coming back.

Very nice place to eat, awesome service. Totally recommend chef is awesome with mango salsa, enjoyed fish tacos great service and food, smoked brisket a definite try. Bar tender a delight and game room a joy, If in Waterloo definitely a great stop . Never too peaceful on outside deck Come and enjoy the night air .

I just discovered this quaint little BBQ/PUB a few months ago when I was camping at the Oaks campground in Munith Michigan. They have really good food at very reasonable prices. The staff are all warm and welcoming! Wendy, Michelle and especially Linda my favorite drink 🍸mixer! I highly recommend for the BBQ and a casual night out with family and friends or mid day for Lunch.

Our table had three orders of full ribs, all three were smoked on a grill prior way too long, had a nasty taste like burnt smoke and salt. Before pandemic they were smoked and tasted great also the wings were smoked back then now they're just deep fried they were good but they weren't smoked like before.

Wasn't really impressed with this place.. the two of us showed up before another couple and the waitress took there order first and they also received there food before we did.. also they received a medium done hamburger which I ordered the well done..

What a great little local restaurant and bar. We are visiting the area and were looking for some local flavor and we are glad to have found Portage Lake Parlor. We shared wings and brisket between the two of us - both were fantastic with plenty of each to take home. Drink and food prices are very reasonable. Many thanks to Cathy (owner) and Linda (mixoligist/waitress). We will be back again very soon.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My ribs tasted like chalk, another person in my group ordered wings and they were pink on the inside and cold, the waitress seemed as if she didn't know the menu and didn't remember our orders. Also we sat by the kitchen and we watched all of the food placed into the microwave. The only thing that was edible was the garlic knots, and even those weren't that good. I will not be back.

I dont normally give a 5 ⭐. In fact I'd have to say I cant remember lately a time when I did but I will say PLP Owner deserves it. She has gone above and beyond. It was a busy place and the patio where we were there wasn't a vacant seat in the establishment. There were 2 people working g her and another waitress who was also busting butt. They were serving with smiles still, tired you could tell but definitely doing all they could.The dedication to make a business be the best for its customers is obviously there in the pride the owner shows to get right down in there and work the floor with her employees. That to me means more than anything. The food was great that evening also, we had fish fry it was excellent, crisp, tender and hot. Good portion size. Left there full and proud to have visited.

I was referred here during Deer Season. Very friendly staff.i questioned the Chef on his bbq and he gave me a free sample of the Brisket. It was outstanding and I ordered Brisket n Ribs which was great and I have been going there ever since. Also kept clean n sanitary!

A new favorite!! Amazing BBQ!! Best BBQ in the area, it blows everyone else out of the water! Can't wait to see what they do with this place, they've sure turned it around and I'll definitely be back.

Very disappointed. The ribs tasted like pure liquid smoke. The brisket was very tender and juicy but had no flavor. The mac n cheese is TERRIBLE. It wasn't Mac n cheese. It is plain elbow noodles topped with a small amount of shredded cheese. I spent over $100 to feed my family. No one finished their plate of food. NO ONE! Very disappointing.

So I'm giving this place 5 stars not because of the food but because of our experience. First time here and the brisket wasn't good, was sort of cold, tough and not seasoned very well. We weren't able to get our appetizer because of issues in the kitchen and the ribs while pretty good could have been smoked a tad bit longer. Being a Friday and fairly busy things were a little chaotic for the staff if felt like but the service was really great. They understood the issues and handled them tremendously. I plan on coming back and giving them another shot. I wanna try the BBQ again and their pizza looks fantastic!

Great place all around always had a great experience at this establishment. The smoked brisket is the best around the cowboy beans are great smoked with the meat with bacon and brisket added. Warm comfortable atmosphere a welcome sight in these times. I highly recommend this place it's a textbook example of how supporting local businesses works and mass produced McDonald's/taco bell is a blight on the local economy.

Deep in the sleepy little area of Portage lake (grass lake) you'll find this great restaurant. Plenty of parking, cold beer, and a great pulled pork sandwich after a day at the lake is nothing to take lightly. However it doesn't stop there. Say your camping close by and you want some food for you and your guests by the fire, this wondrous place sells pulled pork, slabs of ribs, and brisket by the pound. Get yourself a couple pounds of brisket to sit at your site with your family or even as quick meals for the weekend. Now, I know what you're thinking. Ok great restaurant, but what else they got? What sets them apart? Great outdoor seating, good music, games for the family, drinking games for your table, my little ones even got a prize from the waitress for finishing their food! Name another place that does that! We'll be going back for 3 day weekends just for this place. The prices weren't bad either especially for the kids. Grilled cheese and fries was $5. A small bowl of mac and cheese for the baby was $3. Can't beat that.

They have a limited menu right now but everything on it is *amazing*. This place is "Grass Lakes best kept secret" in my opinion. Try the Ribs, Wings, Brisket or Pulled pork sandwiches, tuesday is taco day, wed-sat they usually have smoked burgers and bourbon dressed meatloaf dinners, and if you haven't tried their sides; smoked broccoli, pineapple coleslaw, cornbread, smoked beans or mac and cheese theyre very, very good, and a very reasonable price. They also sometimes have other sides like garlic mashed potatoes and cheesy potatoes. They have vegan/gluten free options if you call ahead, and can sometimes make (accommodation)hotdogs for the kids. And they have newly rennovationated seating areas, indoor and outdoor.

My first visit here was very good! I had ribs and they were very good. Fall off the bone moist and a nice smoke flavor! I also got their baked beans which were also good. I also got an order of the smoked chicken wings. They were moist and delicious. Neither meat was cooked in BBQ sauce. I am ok with that. The quality of the product was very good, not masked with a heavy or spicy sauce. A good mild BBQ sauce was provided in a squeeze bottle and I used it. I will be back for more soon.

Cozy atmosphere, busy for a Tuesday night. The chicken wet burrito was pretty good and not too expensive (it was taco Tuesday). Tap prices were a little high but nothing unusual for a restaurant pint.
