Barden's Hardware in Kingston (3499 Washington St, MI 48741)
About:
Before the turn of the century Harlo Pelton's General Store and living quarters occupied this site. In 1901 George "Ed" Hopps bought and replaced the store with this two story brick building. He also build the first brick house to the north. The bricks came from Weldon kiln located northeast of Kingston. In 1913 Mr. Hopps sold to Francis Dutcher. Mr. Duther sold to Arthur Bates. In 1923 Mr. Bates sold the business to John Barden Sr. After his death in 1973, his sons, John Jr. and Don ran the business. Today three generations of Bardens, John Jr., his son Tim, and Tim's son James continue the business.

Very helpful if you're an average Joe and aren't real sure of exactly what you need.

Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Very helpful. They carry EVERYTHING that you can think of. It may be slightly more expensive than other places, but if it saves me a trip to Saginaw... Then it's NOT expensive. Because I don't have the cost of gas or time.

It's a great local place to get you out of the big box hardware and appliance stores. Your purchases come with great customer service too. 👍

Best old fashioned, family owned hardware you're gonna find! If they don't have what you're looking for I'd be surprised! Great people! Plus, current generation of owners is a veteran, bonus!

My husband and I went looking for ammo for my husband to use deer hunting. (Our normal spots were sold out and a friend told us about Bardens) Gary was amazing in the outdoor sports section. Very knowledgable and patient and exceptionally friendly. Honest about current stocking issues and when new deliveries are expected. We not only found the ammo we were looking for but a few other purchases my hubby had been wanting as well. Will definitely return.

They're very nice here, well stocked store and if they don't have a hard to find part they'll order it for you, and their prices are good, appliance parts are available too

Great selection for a small town hardware store. Prices are comparable to most other hardware locations. The owner is always helpful and nice.

Awesome store. I'm moving into a home in town and had to get a car battery. I went in there hoping they would have one and was blown away by the hard to find items they displayed mass amounts of. Old school home owners must know bout this place, or maybe not. I may need to buy most that stuff. Rather way, besides that, I ended up bull s%&thing with the two workers and left blown away by the hospitality and friendliness. Hope whole towns like them. Highly recommended
