Had my wedding hair and makeup done for myself and my bridemaids. The trial I had was amazing and I loved the hairstyle. Wedding day rolls around and a different lady is doing my hair and it didn't even look like my trial run. It still looked good but it wasn't what I wanted, if I had wanted a curly bun I wouldn't have bothered with a trial but that's what I got for my wedding day and there wasn't enough time to fix it so I just said it was fine and continued about my day. My bridesmaids hair and makeup all looked fantastic and they were all pleased with it. Service: Hairstyling

I've never had a haircut be painful before. The woman who did my hair kept ripping through my hair throughout the entire process. She also took a fine comb and kept slicing it into my scalp. My scalp was actually still sore hours later. Then she finger combed through and when her fingers would snag she would rip them through. It was a very strange and unpleasant experience. Then she applied clouds of hairspray when I just had it straightened for style. Not the worst cut I've ever gotten, but I wouldn't go back Service: Haircut

We had an appointment for 3 pedicures scheduled for weeks. A couple days before I got a call/voicemail from one of the staff asking me to move my appointment time up from 3 to 1pm. I called back and talked to Michelle the owner. And she said that she wasn’t aware that we received this phone call and then asked if I wanted to move up the time or the employee. I said that I was happy for move up if needed but preferred the original time. Then 15 min prior to our appointment while we were already driving there, Michelle called to cancel the appointments. On the voicemail she offered a 20% discount for when we rebooked to apologize. Because of the late cancellation, we were not able to book out pedicures anywhere else. We rebooked the pedicures for later that week and mentioned the discount on the phone when we made the appointment. After the pedicures, were finished and we went to pay, the staff told us that we would only receive the discount on 1 of the pedicures. The other would have to pay full price. Michelle when asked confirmed this was true. This was not mentioned to us when we made the appointments or before we began only after the service had been done. We still tipped well as the service the nail technicians provided was good, but cancelled future appointments as we cannot trust Michelle to keep appointments or her word. Be wary when booking.

Called and got a price for dip powder nails to be removed and they told me one price i get there and the owner wants to change it to more bad service. Owner blames the new receptionist. Place is a joke

I have really thick hair and it was starting to hurt my head but I didn't want to cut it so someone told me to get it thinned and I heard about this place. So I went and now I feel amazing! Head already feels better and I feel 5 pounds lighter. They are clean and so very nice! Will definitely be going back!! Service: Haircut

I went in for a trim while visiting some family from out of town. Brooke was the one that cut my hair and she did a good job although I was not impressed with her straightening skills. My biggest issue with my cut was how my hair was thinned. I have extremely thick hair and typically get the back thinned a bit every other cut. Brooke asked for assistance with thinning my hair from an older blonde woman who must have had more experience with the thinning shears. Not the case. This woman took out so much of my hair, at least double what any other stylist has done in the past. She worked so quickly and never consulted with me during the cut. She also thinned strands of my hair so close to my scalp that I feel like someone took a buzzer to sections of my head. Never have I had someone “thin around the scalp”. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience. Service: Haircut

My daughter was married at the overlook at Tailwater Lodge May 2021 on a cold rainy day. We hired A Cut Above to do hair and makeup for the moms and ladies in the wedding party. They were wonderful, our hair and makeup was done beautifully and lasted all day and evening despite weather conditions. We had such a great experience , the stylists and makeup artists were professional but definitely seemed to be enjoying the excitement of the day. One bridesmaid didn’t like the style she had chosen, it was no problem having her style re done to something she liked. They were an amazing team and everything was beautiful! I made an appointment with Brooke at A Cut Above Salon after viewing their color portfolio on Instagram. I am a darker brunette who wishes to return to the dimensioned blonde I had in college - and Brooke did not disappoint in my first step! I was so concerned that the initial transition phase would be "brassy," but Brooke and Michelle worked together to create a beautiful balayage that lightened my ends (without the brass!) and looked gorgeous. Finishing off with trendy "curtain bangs," I left confident in my new style and so looking forward to my visit next month. The staff's talent is only surpassed by their friendliness, the atmosphere (complimentary drinks and a killer soundtrack in a beautiful, brick historic building) has a vibe that invites relaxation and chill, and the sanitation and cleanliness of the salon exceeded expectations for my first style since the pandemic. I was so beyond impressed and have found my new go-to spot. Thank you, ladies!

I did not enjoy any part of my experience at this salon. I went in for full highlights and a trim. I informed the hair dresser (also the owner of the salon) my hair lifts quickly. I was placed under the dryer for over an hour. she then turned the dryer off and walked away for another 40-50 minutes (my hair doesn’t need to process this long). When it finally came time to wash and rise, my head was being tossed around, her rings kept getting stuck in my hair and she would just continue pulling. Every time she gathered my hair under my neck she scraped my skin with her nails aggressively. After leaving me in the sink for another 40-50 minutes I finally made it to the styling chair. As she was “educating” me on how hair is at it’s weakest when wet (I am also very educated on how to manage hair) she begins to RIP through my hair from ROOT TO END! When it came to the cut I agreed to shorter layers to try and help with the natural curl of my hair. The layers turned out choppy i am not sure if it’s because she was distracted and having people answer her text while trying to cut my hair Or because she’s just a bad stylist. She brought them up too short in the back so the framing around my face is longer than the layers on the sides. My hair is uneven in the front so now I have to wear it pinned back. Once dried and straightened I was able to better assess the highlights, you can see all over where it looks like bleach was dropped on the root or sections that weren’t highlighted and not fixed. Other things that happened that I did not appreciate, while foiling my hair she was on the phone and kept leaving to check texts, after ripping through my hair and chopping it she placed me under the dryer AGAIN so she could curl a friends hair that walked in so she could take a better picture. As a new mom I was very much looking forward to pampering myself for a bit. My appointment was for 2:15 we didn’t start until after 2:45 I didn’t leave until 6:30. I left feeling worse than when I arrived. It was not relaxing or enjoyable in the slightest. Services: Haircut, Hair highlighting

Went for a quick pedicure, not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. This place is an experience, when you walk in it’s instant glam. My pedicure was awesome, and the homemade scrub is heavenly. This is a must visit!!!!
