I am taking Tai Chi lessons there. I really enjoy them. The owners are skilled, patient and kind. I know their background and training is appropriate for Jiu Jitsu as well, and that they do not tolerate bullies.

The best home gym I could have ever hoped for! When I first walked into Edgar’s gym 3 months ago, I was super nervous and unsure about just what I was getting myself into. Walking out of his gym today, I’m a more confident and present person. Coach Edgar’s love for BJJ is evident from day one and his patient and welcoming personality immediately puts you at ease. He teaches not only the physical aspects of BJJ but also the emotional and mental ones as well as going over breathing and balancing exercises, boxing and basic self defense. In his gym, he facilitates a safe and invigorating atmosphere while also encouraging you to push yourself and to ask questions. If you’re on the fence about joining Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater, I urge you to just go. You won’t regret it! Also, to get the best bang for your buck, I highly recommended the Saturday yoga class taught by his wife Melissa! Thanks for being such an awesome first coach!

Edgar and his team at Stillwater BJJ are awesome to train with. I have trained at many gyms and Edgars was the most inviting and welcoming. They train hard but still maintain a friendly and welcoming environment. Go check it out!

Coach Edgar Escalante is amazing and the whole team is supportive and awesome. Coach Edgar addresses the physical and emotional challenges of learning BJJ and displays great patience and support for those practicing at all levels. No matter what level you are—from beginner to advanced—there is a place for you here and you’re always made to feel welcome. My BJJ family and my training at Jiu Jitsu Academy of Stillwater has been therapeutic to me on so many levels! Highly recommend!! There are adult classes, kids classes and yoga available at this location. Every one of those absolutely worth checking out!

My daughter has been training with Jiu Jitsu Academy since February. She has special needs and it has completely changed her life. She is more focused and way more determined. She has self-confidence that she has never had before. The kids class is Wednesday Thursday and Friday and well worth. Thank you Edgar and Melissa for all your hard work with my daughter!!

Need kid classes? Covered. Need MMA training? Covered. Edgar and the team offer multiple opportunities to all. The whole gym is every bit as welcoming as I could have hoped for and more. There's no bjj gym I'd rather attend.

I visit gyms every time I travel. Jiu Jitsu Academy offered great training with a clear focus on technique. Edgar is an experienced trainer, who has created a family style gym. I recommend this gym to both the experienced and beginner.

If you want to train Jiu Jitsu in Stillwater, then this is the place to go. This academy feels more like a family than a business. The instructor is not looking out to make a quick buck. He is very passionate about Jiu Jitsu and fitness in general and truly wants everyone to succeed in this martial art. The instructing is also very good. Personally, I competed in a tournament and did very well thanks to the quality instruction. Anyone who competes representing this academy will do well. The facility itself is very clean, and everyone gets along very well. You will also receive a lot more one-on-one instruction than any other place in the region, and the academy suits all experience levels, beginner to advanced. There is a one week free trial, so if you are considering Jiu Jitsu, then just stop in and give it a trial shot with no cost to you whatsoever; you won't regret it!

My son's experience with this instructor and academy has been A+++, he has learned skills, discipline, and loves attending. Truly a huge part of our "takes a community to raise a child." I can't say enough because there are too many great reasons to recommend The Jujitsu Academy of Stillwater and Edgar Escalante!

Jiu Jitsu translates as "the gentle art" were leverage and technique allows you to defeat the bigger and stronger opponent. BJJ Academy of Stillwater teaches these fundamentals where you conserve your energy as you wear out your opponent and ultimately submit them with proper technique and leverage. If you want to learn BJJ, then this is the place to do it in Stillwater, OK. Edgar Escalante, the head instructor and owner of BJJ Academy of Stillwater, is truly dedicated to teaching his students the philosophy and the ways of Jiu Jitsu. I trained here for 3 months before moving out of state and I could truly feel the difference in my ability to survive the bigger opponent. I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu because of the way Edgar teaches it. He is very detailed in his instructions and shows you the importance of angles and proper body positioning. This place is a win-win in my book and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone no matter what age or skill level. Trust me you won't be disappointed! On a side note, I just recently moved back to California and started looking for a new place to train and was blown away by the number of schools out here. I took advantage of a free introductory class and after it the instructor (a 3rd degree black belt) came up to me and said he was "truly impressed with my only instructor (a two strip purple belt) Edgar Escalante!" He said that Edgar "did an amazing job at teaching me the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu in 3 months!" Thank you Edgar, I miss you guys!
