Had the worst experience with them. Dropped off our tax information early in February, was quoted 7-10 days. Did not hear from them for two weeks. called for an update and would not return my calls. I left multiple messages on the agents cell and office phone none of which were returned. My wife could get through to her on occasion but she refused to call me back. Ended up taking 6 weeks to get our taxes filed. Never once called me back when I called the agent and then preceded to act like I never called and she didn't have my number when I met with her to go over the taxes. She still charged full price and would not apologize for taking 5x longer then she quoted us which then left us with a refund date of the beginning of May. (We wanted to file early to get our refund fast.) Then after telling her we wanted the refund direct deposited and signing forms to have that done I received a check in the mail. This is not what I expected when I had our first appointment and so I would not recommend this company or their staff to my worst enemy.

We have used Booksmarts in Cranberry for our taxes for about 5 or 6 years. I am self employed and opened a Simple IRA plan (on their advice) for a retirement plan. The first year of the plan when they did the return, I received no tax benefit. When I questioned that, they said, no we were still exceeding the income limits. The second year was the same, but around that time I changed custodians for the plan and the new custodian told me I should definitely be receiving a tax benefit. I requested a meeting and at that point they agreed and completed amended returns for 2009 and 2010. When I picked up my 2011 returns they treated it the same way they had initially, and completed forms under my husband's ssn for the plan. This time I requested a meeting right away. I had to explain to the tax preparer why they should not have used a particular form. Another amended return. When I complained to the office manager, her suggestion was basically that maybe I should use Turbotax. I have since had the last three years of returns reviewed by a CPA firm. Federal looks OK, but they found that Booksmarts did not include our 529 contributions on our state return for the last two years. Two more amended returns. I would not recommend Booksmarts unless you like to review your taxes line by line after you have paid them to do it.
