I went in for a cut with Mark Smith after growing my hair out for six years. The receptionist recommended him as being experienced with curly cuts, so I was hopeful. I ended up losing over half my length in an awfully uneven cut. I left with my hair tangled, frizzy, and dry. Devastated is an understatement. After calling to explain what happened, the receptionist spoke with Mark, who said that he felt he might not be able to complete the cut due to a lack of experience with my length and texture at the start of the appointment, but chose to continue anyway. There were so many points where he could have been honest with me, but it never happened. The owner, Jo-Anna, met with me the following day to do her best to fix my hair. She was apologetic and shared that the salon plans to train stylists in textured hair care in the coming months, but no amount of kindness can fix the original error. For those seeking services for natural curls—please insist on a thorough consultation and confirm the stylist’s training before entrusting your hair.

I had the privilege of receiving a gender affirming cut by Reba back around October 2020 before I moved out of Rhode Island. I ad to find Reba's salon on Google to write this review because everyone should know that to date, NO ONE has cut my curly mohawk better than Reba. More than 1 year on, her perfect V taper has not been achieved by another stylist or barber! So Reba, if you are ever in South Florida, please hit a UniKorn up! Peace! I tried Flipp for the first time this week and I will absolutely be going back. Reba did an awesome job — she took the time to make sure the cut I wanted would work with my hair, and she gave the most gentle hair washing I have ever had. :) She also gave me some styling tips and was very meticulous with the cut. I was incredible happy with the results! The space was also fun, bright, clean, and smelled amazing. I was on the lookout for a new salon that could style my curly hair, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, as soon as Kelly began assessing my hair, I knew I was in good hands. I'm so pleased with the amount of care and love that goes into the whole styling process - whoever you get will make sure you're taken care of. Moreover, they know what they're doing, and if you have any questions or concerns, they will happily educate you about your hair type without any judgements. I love this place! I have been looking for a place that uses natural hair color forever and I finally found my home!! They also have natural hair products and skincare. They are also an apothecary so you can get custom tea blends for almost any ailment. Highly recommend!!
