I called them just a little after they were open. To find out what was needed for me have my hair and styled. She answered every question and I made an appointment the same day. Got there and i have no complaints. Very pleased and with everything going on. Best day ever, put a smile on my face and enjoying our conversation. I was where I was supposed to be. I will be going back and, recommend go there. it's worth it and more. Just please be mindful and call first. They are required to make sure you and everyone that visits is safe. Everyone has a part. Crystal did exactly as I asked her to do. I have finally found someone who listens and understands how I want my hair cut. I appreciate the fact that she listened to what I wanted. I called before I made the trip because I stay over an hour away, Angela said she would be able to flat iron & curl my hair. After arriving the got my name & number & I was told to come back at 4:30, when I walked by she was still doing someone else’s hair. After walking around some more, I went back, as I was about to sit down she said she couldn’t do my hair because she had to watch the other customers bleach or something like that. She tried asking about booking another appointment but to already make a blank trip had made me mad. I just feel like because I called and explained that I was a hour away I should’ve been taken care of. It will be a while before I try them again.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due, and if I'm going to give you a low rating, I'm also going to make it clear why I did. I've been natural for about two years now, but my beautician moved away. So I was referred to SmartStyle on Whiskey Road. I made an appointment for a shampoo and condition, but wasn't told that I had to ask for extra time or I'd be leaving with a no style-wet head. That was minor but I consider it very major when someone is pulling and breaking my hair off. The stylist was about to wet and wash my hair until I suggested she take the comb twists out before wetting it because (I thought she should have known) wetting the hair before combing out twists can result in matted tangles that may never come out. She then took me back to her station and began taking the twists out. I told her she should moisturize my hair in order to get the tangles out without breaking it. She sprayed it with water. Again I told her she needed to moisturize, even making a nervous joke about getting some WD40 for hair, but she continued to pull and apologize for the pain she was causing my scalp. I am no beautician, but I know you need to use something to make hair slippery in order to comb out twists without tearing out some hair. I could hear my hair stretching and popping as she snapped the ends off. I would have refused to pay before I left had I known how badly my hair was damaged. All my ends were even when I got there, because I'd previously had her even them out, but when I left, it was just as ragged as the first day I met her. I just couldn't tell because I had to leave with a wet Afro Puff, as she says her patrons often do. Wet Afro puff? That's not what I signed up for. I expressed my displeasure to the manager who also apologized but refused to refund my money, citing that the stylist did me a service because she took my twists out and put a special conditioner in my hair. I don't consider yanking my hair out a service, and I BROUGHT THE CONDITIONER! As bad as this situation was, I was willing to give them a favorable review had they refunded my money. Granted, as the manager said, it wouldn't have made my hair reappear, but neither would I be paying for someone to tear it out! Not cool SmartStyle! Not cool!

Best haircut in town and when you go here ask for Judy she has been cutting my hair for 9 years and go to her if you want a good looking cut
