There was plenty of parking. The decor is homey and up to date, with a fun atmosphere. Service was quick and our server was nice. Food came out fast. It was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a family dinner! -Hannah age 11

Went to Cathy’s for a family dinner , ordered the grilled chicken breast and grilled veggies , went to take my first bite only for the chicken to taste freezer burnt and to bite into a piece of bone I put it aside and tried to take another bite only to bite into another bone and for it to still taste freezer burnt, I asked my waitress who was fantastic to please ask the chef to make me a new grilled chicken due to obvious food safety hazards and nasty taste but she came back a few minutes later saying that the chef refused to remake the chicken stating that the multiple bones I found in my food wasn’t a problem and that there was no way the chicken tasted freezer burnt , by that time I had started to feel nauseous and when I finally made it home I had to make a bee line for my restroom due to a violent wave of vomiting. I will never recommend this place to anyone and would highly suggest steering clear of it if your in port o Conner

*MUST READ!!!* Cathy's Restauraunt is a hidden gem in the the Gulf Coast which has been opened for over 23 seasons! It has survived huricanes, economic hardship and a pandemic and still shines bright with perseverance with the people who run in since day 1 thru rain or shine. What stood out about this place is that every person who works here puts in hard effort that can be seen so you can enjoy a good time with your family or friends and walk out with a Big Smile and say "that was freaking darn good, I am stuffed!". The ambience of the restauraunt makes you feel welcomed, happy and relaxed. Best of all, the food comes in Big Portions and very delicious. You can tell Cathy's has a good solid Menu of food which ranges from Seafood to Chicken Fried steak and dont forget the 13 varieties of BEERS & 6 WINES + FROZEN Drinks! I welcome you to come dine here for you will not be disapointed! Here are some pictures of the "All You Can Eat Shtimp/Fish (FRIED)" plate!!

Taken here by friends. Loved the shrimp both fried and grilled. So much food! A little pricey but Huge portions! Ate on it for two days. It was a Friday night 7ish so there was a little wait and the service was a little slow. Worth the wait. Highly recommend!

Best home style cooking in Calhoun County. Cathys never fails to give excellent service. Ample amount of food cooked to perfection. This is a must place to go to and be ready to eat a healthy portion. Enjoy!

Mediocre. Not sure how people are rating the food 5 stars. Mushy, over fried shrimp, and stuffing used for several dishes that was mostly bread and not much crab. Flavorless onion rings. Flavorless Mac and Cheese. Boring fried food is what your going to get. Stood at the front waiting for someone to come out of the back for several minutes when we arrived. Server was personable enough but seemed distracted by co-workers in back. I wouldn’t go back, especially since the prices were pretty high for the food quality.

Great service by our waitress, Candice. Food was awesome. I didn't particularly like the fish, but my friend LOVED it and I LOVED the shrimp. Highly recommend if you enjoy seafood. Oh they also have chicken fried steak which my other friend enjoyed immensely.

My family has been road tripping to Port O'Connor, several times a year since 2005, for one reason only — all-you-can-eat fried shrimp at Cathy's Restaurant. They never disappoint! Each and every time we've eaten there the service has been fast and friendly (hi, Tasha!!) and the food hot, delicious, and fresh fresh fresh. Really. The freshness of their shrimp and the friendliness of their service cannot be overemphasized. The building is clean and simple. The crowd is casual and laid back. Nothing fancy. Just good people and good food. This visit was a bit different because they've made the expected pandemic-era changes; masks required until you're seated, salad bar closed, hand sanitizer provided. They're also operating with fewer tables than normal, and our dinner salads came pre-plated and wrapped in plastic. The shrimp was as spectacular as always. We eat at Cathy's as often as practical. It's a three-hour drive from our home, so for us practical means 3-4 times per year — pandemics, lockdowns, and hurricanes notwithstanding. It's a long drive for lunch, but absolutely worth the time, trouble, and expense. Eat at Cathy's. You'll be glad you did.
