I got a great discount with the first U-HAUL location that I reserved a truck with, but then I realized that I had not choosen the closest location. I then contacted this U-HAUL Neighborhood location (expecting higher prices and no discounts). To my surprise, they honored the original deal and gave a free upgrade (since they did not have the exact vehicle in the first deal). I found each customer service representative (over the phone and in person) to be patient, personable, knowledgeable and dedicated to the customer's good. *IMPORTANT* An agent taught me that most personal auto and/or commercial auto insurance do not cover 100% of U-HAUL vehicles. Customers who damage the vehicle or are in an accident are required to pay out of pocket first and then are reimbursed by their insurance companies (for any damage that might be covered). Instead of running the risk of having to come out of pocket, I got the U-HAUL insurance for a few extra bucks. That small insurance cost (investment) would save me $45,000, should the worst case scenario take place.
