Don't waste your time, go to a real school or university, and earn a degree. Most of the staff that works there aren't even college-educated. Job corps is a last resort for losers and criminals.

Old Dominion Job Corps is a place where a young adult can find direction, a stable job, life and leadership experience. Also most of all, people who want to see you succeed. The staff are caring exceptional people who deal with all the stressors of their own lives and of this place, to work with you to achieve your best you. I went in for Pharmacy Technician and got certified in 3 months (normally a 6-9 month course, shouts out to Mrs. Ellis!) got CPR training and best of all gave me the opportunity to join the military something I didn't think I wanted to do, but I needed. Is the food the best? No. Are the dorms the greatest? Could be better. But all in all there are way worse Job Corps centers out there and I miss my time there and wish I could rewind it all. So if you need a leg up then seriously consider ODJCC, so you can be a functional adult.

I need to update this again. So here it goes. EDIT 2: There have been major improvements here in Job Corps which contradicts nearly everything i have said. For one, they finally fixed the problems with James Dorm and i am very happy about that. They are finally punishing the staff and students that deserve it by sending them home which is a HUGE deal for a government official location. They improved some times too! Not all of them, but a few of them at least. I am now changing my two star rating to a four star rating and will rate five if they would just remove that new 6:40 role call and the fact that we have an 8:00 PM Role call AND a 10:00 PM role call on Mondays and to top that off, the 6:40 AM and 4:15 PM Role calls we already have on Mondays. Trips have improved AMAZINGLY high, there are GREAT trips and activities happening every weekend, and the rec does WAY more activities now. I'm growing to love this place and surprisingly even the staff. I highly recommend coming here and i say do not come here if you are a troublemaker because you are just asking to get sent. Remember what you're here for and enjoy your time here! Thanks for reading ^

It's been a little over a decade since I've graduated from here. However, let me tell you, You are there to get an education and a trade so don't go there BS'ing and not take it seriously. You have to be serious about YOUR FUTURE! You have to take it seriously. You are not there to have fun.. Please stay strong minded and accomplish what you need to in order to move forward in life. Best decision I've made. I earned my GED and completed Information Technology. Thank you ODJCC for changing my life for the best!! I wonder if Mr. Grimes is still there. He is a good person. I will never forget how this place changed my life for the best!!!!!!!!
