As of Friday, October 21st Schmidt’s Auto Inc Salvage Yard does not allow people into the junk yard anymore. It’s upsetting because they don’t list does details on the website. Has anyone been denied from going inside the gunk yard?

I've been buying parts from here for well over 20 years. The owner, Mike, is a super nice guy, as are most of the employees. If you need to get a part off a car that you can't access, they will come out and move cars around to help you out. Sometimes they'll even help get the part off in such a circumstance. However, you can also just request that they get the part in the first place. This usually raises the price by $5-$50, depending on the part. The more expensive/harder to remove parts will cost a little more. All their prices are reasonable though and sometimes negotiable a little bit. They don't haggle but if you're a few bucks short and you're really polite and kind, they MIGHT let a few bucks slide. In addition, if you buy a mechanical or electrical part, such as a heater blower motor, and it doesn't work, you have 7 days to exchange it for another one. Don't try to be slick though- they mark their parts and they'll know if you're trying to bring in a part that they didn't sell you. I highly recommend this particular company because they've never done me wrong, have a huge variety of parts from many, many years, makes, and models. And if you're lucky, you may even get a little hello from a kitty. I didn't see any the last two times I was there, but usually there are cats roaming around or hiding. They feed and take care of them and in return, the cats provide pest control. That's another reason I love this place. I'm a huge cat lover and they care for some so I automatically appreciate and respect them more. 🙂😻

Kid who works in the front office is super arrogant and clearly doesn't care about customers. Talks on the phone like every call is a hassle. We paid for parts upfront on Friday and came to pick them up today (Monday) only to wait 30+ minutes for him to pretend like he didn't know where one of the parts was. Smh it's people like this who give decent companies a bad reputation. Perhaps he needs to take a lesson from Hank Williams Jr. by getting an attitude adjustment 😉

Ever since they closed down the Salvage Yard the place is on a heavy decline, it takes hours and even sometimes days to get a response, the whole point of a Salvage yard is to pick a part and be out quick.

I visited Schmidt’s Auto Salvage this past weekend to pick up a trunk lid for my project car. I actually found it on Facebook. Whoever I was taking to was very nice and got back to me quickly. When I picked my part up the gentleman at the front desk got me my part, which they picked off the car for me. I paid and was out of there under 10 minutes. They located the country and it’s a beautiful drive to pick up you car parts. Thanks for the help!!

I called earlier in the day to see if they had a party available they were easy to talk to and said they could have the part pulled before I got there.. called around 4 to see if they had the part taken off so I could pay and pick up and they then told me they don’t pull part till customer is there and part is paid for and hung up right away…

Great Salvage yard. Generations of Family. Has the parts I need 95% of the time. Friendly Service. Yard is maintained. Safety precautions in place.

I think this place needs more friendly people, if that’s not that case maybe put the discrimination to a side? If that’s not the case, I hope your days get better. My husband and son came to this place and they got no service at all. No greeting whatsoever and the guy that was working, didn’t even bother to ask if they needed help. I have friends, family, mechanics that have come here to buy parts for years. Never had this happen before. If this kind of service or behavior continues to go on, I will be putting a complaint against this company. Better Business bureau (BBB) will be expecting that from me. Hopefully I won’t have to do that.

Selection seemed fine. Staff seemed pretty friendly. Wanted $20 for a somewhat damaged fender liner. A new fender liner (non-OEM) is $8.18 for a left and $10.34 for a right from RockAuto. I'll be ordering it from them.
