Similar experience as some reviews below. Manager (David ? ) was rude. That is not the only downside. Many parents feedback is negative @ mediocre quality of rental instruments that are in circulation. Instead, purchase a good used instrument from someone local than renting from them and loosing money. That way, you wont worry @ your child scratching or damaging it and can resell after use if you want. The biggest issue I have seen and heard is unvalidated music instructors providing lessons at this location. The store conveniently shakes off all liability on these bad music instructors. Many have poor reputation with MTAC and a parent better be present in the room with the child if you expect your child to learn at a decent pace. This is highly unethical behaviour from them.Dont leave your child with these teachers. Or find better teachers online.

ZERO STARS IF I COULD. Awful place with the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Closing down the store mid school year and don’t notify customers. I happened to find out accidentally. When I returned my instrument they would not pro-rate my monthly charge even tho it’s not my fault they are closing and why should I be inconvenienced driving to Oakland to their new location? There’s a reason why I rented from the San Ramon location. They weren’t apologetic at all, but rather complained that they were forced to close. Just awful service!!! Good riddance!

San ramon store it appears small but has all the materials you need for Music. Two stars for the way they behave with customers all sweet while you sign the deal once done they r not so nice. The owner is rude. It is ok to be proud of your work but not rude. Also make sure to check books when you buy mistake was made by the employee and owner refuse to refund $5(store policy). We are not going to ask for it. For such small amount of money, we are not going to lose our sleep! What can you buy for $5 in store & one has to hold on to receipt till your next purchase. So people ask for the receipt and keep it safe. Next time I will try different place and this will be our last option.

A wonderful, one-of-a-kind local music store with great teachers, rentals and a knowledgeable staff. There's not many places like this left for parents of children in school bands!

Don't recommend to rent instrument here. I rent a clarinet and it is very old, one key is not working after several months. Then we decided to return. But they charged for repairing the key. What's the problem? I never to break it, it is just too old and the key doesn't work suddenly, why I have to be responsible for it?
