It's noisy, but it's excellent diner food, and the service is great. They used to have napkin art contests, and some of the winners are still on display. Love the place, except for the noise.

Great food, ambience and service! We went in around noon for brunch on a Saturday, got seated right away and our food arrived pretty quickly after. We had a group of 6 people after us and they got seated pretty quickly too. We order a freshly squeezed orange juice that was fresh (and not too sweet). I got a veggie meal and my partner got a frittata. Both were great! They have cute decor inside which was nice too

We had good coffee and a nice breakfast sandwich here. Cute little homey spot. Graffiti all over the benches was pretty cool. Food : 5/5 | Service : 5/5 | Atmosphere : 5/5 … More

This is hands down our FAVORITE breakfast place in East Bay. The folks who work there are so incredibly kind, and the atmosphere is cozy hole-in-the-wall. The food is beyond delicious, the challah orange French toast is the best French toast I’ve ever had. There are also a ton of vegan and vegetarian options!

This place is the best. A truly beloved local joint with a welcoming atmosphere, kind efficient staff, great food and coffee, and a plethora of customer created napkin art. Several of us ordered mimosas and the owner suggested we would get more bang for our buck with a full bottle of champagne and a carafe of OJ (fresh squeezed), so we had mimosas for days. They also rock a fruit cup and have great biscuits. On their menu: "IF IT’S NOT RIGHT, TELL US AND WE WILL FIX IT." The owner is wonderful and hilarious. If I lived here, I'd be in this place all the damn time. Vegetarian options: Get the mushroom gravy! Kid-friendliness: This place is all around friendly, including kid friendly.

Don't judge a book by its cover is an appropriate warning... it's not fancy but..oh my...the food is fresh, delicious and bountiful. The catfish & eggs was a delightful breakfast entree. I was told by the owner that they buy fresh seafood from the wharf. I had a pesto egg omelet..can't remember the entree name. All I know is that I want the recipe for those delicious, flavorful pesto cubes that they enfolded into my omelette.. it was a weekly special. The pancakes were huge & fluffy. I tasted food off of everyone's plate ( smiles) Mama's Royal is a favorite Oakland breakfast spot.. laid back.. very casual..limited seating..attentive servers. Check it out!

An Oakland mainstay. It seems nothing has changed at Mama's and that's a good thing. Still great staff, still great eggs, and still just that slightly side of weird that makes you grateful you live in the bay area. The Eggs Brady were yummy and the coffee was still strong AF. Don't ever change Mama.

Cannot recommend this place enough! The food was incredible and the people were so nice! Every bite was made with love and care. You need to eat here. I am definitely going back to try more of the items on their menu! Features: Need to show vaccine card per local laws.

The food is okay. We came here for brunch over the weekend when we couldn't get in elsewhere. Service was also okay, one person was really nice. We ordered: Spinarrito (breakfast burrito with a spinach tortilla): overfilled with flavorless black beans. We split it open with a fork and there was like half a can of unseasoned black beans. Blackstone eggs benedict: eggs were cooked well, but oh man they need to work on their hollandaise sauce. You can see from the pic that it's very yellow - it definitely needs less egg yoke + lemon, and more butter. It was so thick and rich that I couldn't finish the meal, I started to gag and felt sick. Combo breakfast with eggs and pancakes: the best and safest option. Our friend said the pancakes were fluffy and scrambled eggs were good. This is the only dish I'd consider coming back here for. Overall, this place was underwhelming. Give it a try if you're in a pinch to find a brunch spot, otherwise there are plenty of better brunch places in the area.

Finally! Dine in! Just great to sit down and enjoy for once, Mama's, already known for their delicious breakfast! Great for lunch as well, I had the 1/3lb. Burger and a friend had the Dagwood sandwich, both delicious and more than filling 😋
