First time attempting to use this shop. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle but I am responsible for paying for the diagnosis fee. Once the shop realized this, they tried to price gouge me with a $280 diagnosis fee. They wanted that fee up front. I recently had work done at a dealer service department and was only charged $50 diagnosis fee. Stay away or beware, they will try to take advantage of you. I immediately picked up the vehicle and will go elsewhere. Service: Transmission

We take all our vehicles to Protech in Tehachapi for smog, they give a small discount for canned food donations. They are on time and perform smogs quickly. Today, I returned a week after having my ABS module bleed. I felt there was still air in the brake system. Jeff at the front desk got me scheduled right away. Jose one of the mechanics explained the process he did to re-bleed my ABS module and the rest of the brakes using their scan tool to activate the ABS module. There was no charge for the re-bleed. I recommend and will continue to use Protech. Services: Brakes, General repairs & maintenance

I brought my vehicle in for a smog check which it failed, and brought it back to get fixed. Staff at the front were rude and dismissive, and spent a lot of time in idle conversation, not regarding business, while I waited to be helped. But I'm patient, so I let that go as just rude people. However when I got my keys back after the repairs, I found that the front seat belt latch is broken. It was fine 24 hours before when I dropped it off, and won't latch now. They refused to do anything about it, denied any fault (I get it, accidents happen) and simply suggested I spray some WD-40 in there and walked away. It is not safe to use, so I gotta spend another $50 to replace something that wasn't broken when I trusted them with it. If you have to get your car fixed, this should be the last place you take it. It would have been worth leaving it for a week in Bakersfield to not have someone break my truck through negligence. UPDATE: The check engine light came back on after only 800 miles (one drive back to Oregon). Whatever they had done to "fix" the system to pass emissions will have to be done all over again this year, likely for another $750. Scam.

Very friendly personal, the guy at the front desk even help me with other questions I had that wasn't related to the reason I had to their shop. Overall it was a very good experience getting to know more mechanic shops around town. Prices are very reasonable and competitive. In my experience I really think all personal there are very honest.

I needed a smog check last minute and all other places were either booked, didn't have the right equipment or were closed. Protech was professional and took me in right away. They did a great job and the price was great. Highly recommend.
