I would not recommend this place to any friends, family, or prospective customers. I have stayed with Uhaul before but this place is the worst. I’ve had issues moving in and out and still waiting to hear back about an unresolved issues. Reservations mean nothing to them. I reserved a small 5x7x10 to store my belongings and when I get there I am told no such unit exists and the only small one they had cost me $30 more. I had no choice but to pay the extra because I had all of my belongings with me ready to move in. Moving out was an even worse experience. I let the facility know that I this was going to be my last month staying and that once the month was over I would no longer need my unit. I had paid for the rest of the month of august and moved out progressively. Unfortunately, they took this as once I sent the email I was completely done with my unit and they went ahead and threw away ALL of my stuff in the storage. Not once was I contacted and when I went to the unit to pick up my belongings they had already sold the unit to someone else. Luckily the employees there agreed it was a miscommunication and I filed a reimbursement for all of my destroyed and discarded items which quite frankly had a lot of value to me. I am still waiting to hear back from them and it has been such a stressful process for me. Please do yourself a favor and never rent a unit from this location. Everything felt like a total scam and unfortunately I will never be seeing my things again.

Returned my tow dolly on a Thursday, within the time frame to not be overcharged. They didnt process it until Saturday and i was charged an extra $60. Still trying to get my money back. Update: i kept calling Uhaul, being nice and just explaining the situation to no avail. I got all snarky and mean with a poor random customer service rep and wouldnt you know it, within an hour i had an email letting me know my refund was approved and the money hit my acct a few days later. Why yall make me have to do that 😮💨

Avoid this place. Took my car there for a hitch installation. Not only they didn't install the hitch (they said the one they had didn't fit, even though I had reserved the service a week in advance), they also damaged my car to the tune of about $2,000. They punctured a tire with a huge screw to the point that it was beyond repair and I had to change all 4 tires on the car, and they also damaged the keyless entry system of the car for which I had to take the car to the dealer for repairs. And then they ignored my complaints and the lied about it. Absolutely awful.

Worst storage place ever. For U-Haul to be a business it's a pretty bad business. To have young boys there that have no clue of what their doing. How you one minute have a person in the PC let them take the truck to move items and then say they're not in the computer when you come back. Also they said there cash register wasn't working after there were no issues with it.

I don’t usually post 5-star reviews and I don’t trust people that do. In fact, my rental experience at 1175 State Street in New Haven didn’t start out very well. Upon arriving at my appointed pickup time, we learned that another customer hadn’t returned the equipment that I was scheduled to rent. Paul Civitello stepped up and made it right. He arranged for another truck and followed through on precisely everything he said he would do. It is so very rare that anyone in the service industry gives a hoot about customer care anymore. But if it weren’t for Paul’s caring and personal integrity this review would be very different. I am appreciative of the staff at this U-Haul location for their honesty and sincerity. And so I am breaking my own rule and offering a 5-star review of my rental experience. When people step up to overcome failures in an automated world, that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Uhaul trailer wheel popped within 10 miles after I getting it. It took me 40min to get this piece of junk in the store and 3 more hours waiting on the highway for someone to come fix it. It's a store with poor managing, terrible waiting time, and equipment in unsafe condition.
