WOW...AMAZED!!! Brought my long hair kitty in for a shave on her back end (matted) which she DOES NOT LIKE having done. I purposely sat in the waiting room to avoid hearing her cry...heard the shaver but NOTHING from kitty?? When they came out, I laughingly asked if they muzzled her. They said "nope, she was great". I went in and kitty was lying belly up and completely calm, while they showed me what came out of a simple cyst they found and expressed...I still can't believe how easy this visit was! THANK YOU Kaylee AND Alexis!!!!!!

I feel the need to preface this post by saying- I next to never write reviews- Like EVER!!! Further, I'd like to note- I am not paid to post! This said, after recently taking a look at some of the comments posted I felt compelled to share my personal experiences with this hospital. I have been taking my dogs to this practice for over 17 years. I have used other veterinarians before so this lens is not one narrowed by lack of exposure to other groups. Gordie was the first dog I took to Pet Shield. Actually, Nicole, who was fostering Gordie, was taking him there after his rescue from St. Croix. I just figured this was the first and only vet he has been to so let's just try this out. On the AM of Gordie's scheduled neuter he had his very 1st seizure. I had never experienced anything like that! This began our VERY long road filled not only with medical needs but, despite all odds, a very long LIFE! When I tell you this would not have been possible without ALL of the staff there I mean from the kindness, gentleness and understanding of the intake staff and techs all the way to the DVM's who made calls to Universities, Specialists and pharmacists. At one point in his care Gordie's body was shutting down with the Great Dane sized doses of Phenobarb he was on. That medicine alone was no longer working for him. After calls across the country to brainstorm what treatment options were available and how to get these meds as inexpensively as possible (like a $500/month med they found for $70 that could be made just for Gordie and mailed to us) we finally found the "cocktail" combination which maintained his levels so he could live a Wonderful life for 14 years. And- that was all the way to the VERY VERY end of his life with his most humane, gentle and love in his send off. The staff and vet are not at all money grubbing! They have comparable schedule of rates as what other veterinarians charge. What I have found is other vets I have gone to who appear they are less expensive yet, force needless (billed) follow-ups and (additional) tests which aren't necessary. The team at pet shield are honest. They dialog with you if you want to share what your animal's lifestyle is and then they match the care accordingly. I have always felt educated while going through some very tough decisions and I have never felt misled! We have never done tests needlessly- they have been options. The only "needless tests" we have endured are because there are some blood panels which when you do the whole panel it is LESS expensive then doing the one or two tests which we need- which on their own would be MORE expensive. In the end the net effect is we actually have more information and baselines which is more helpful in the long run. Sometimes they "Highly suggest" certain tests but, an owner is still never forced or guilted. Because the team is so highly communicative, and because they truly champion education of the pet owners, one is able to make a sound decision in what direction to go for their animal. Last, but certainly not least, we are all loved! The animals are TRULY and EMPHATICALLY Loved. Dr. Shanley and Amy and so many of the staff shed heartfelt tears at the end of Gordie's life. This dog was all our dog and this also goes for ANY animal who comes through their door. The owner, staff and all who have ties to this particular hospital work with passion for the animals. I sincerely trust them!

Dr. Shanley and all of the staff here at Pet Shield went well above and beyond in helping us with emer. surgery for our dog which saved her life. We owe them a life's worth of gratitude. Andre and Jenn Ferraro

Took my VERY anxious/growling kitty there today who needed her irritated +++sacs expressed. The tech was super calm and conscientious in the way she handled (swaddled) her while the procedure was being done...thank you!!! Dr. Shanley was also very conscientious, thoughtful and thorough! This is the 2nd time in the last few months I've had to take her in for this, and the last visit was just as good. They definitely work as a team and it shows!

It is impossible for me to speak too highly of the staff at Pet Shield Veterinary Hospital. We have been going there for years, both with Dr. Fischbach and with Dr. Shanley, and have never been treated with anything less than generous and attentive care. During our cat's last illness they were always there to provide updates, make suggestions, and help us make her as comfortable as possible. The passing of a pet is never easy, but without the compassionate staff at Pet Shield it would have been twice as hard. We have adopted two new cats from the shelter next door, and would trust no one else with their health. And if anyone from Pet Shield reads this: thank you for all you do!

Where do I start! I LOVE this veterinary hospital. Over the course of 12 years, they have treated both my dogs with love and consideration and gave them the same treatment they'd do for their own dogs. They helped me through a torn ACL, severe athritis, multiple carpet eating experiences and countless other things and were ALWAYS available when I needed them. I can't express my gratitude enough! I made the hour and a half drive to see them repeatedly for this reason. I unfortunately had to start bringing my dogs elsewhere because I live so far away and they are getting old.. but bring your "kids" here, you won't regret it.

I have been going to Pet Shield for over 5 years. Dr. K Shanley is knowledgeable and compassionate. My boston passed away last summer, a very difficult time for our family and Dr. Shanley was with us every step of the way, taking phone calls and seeing us many times last minute. Highly recommend Dr. Shanley and the entire staff! Dawn M

I have been to Pet Shield 3 time in 3 days with 3 different cats. I cant say enough about the staff. They are knowledgeable and very kind to my cats. I have seen both Dr Read and Dr Shanley. Not only are the both gentle and compassionate, but they we fantastic at getting to the base of each of my cats problems. Seems that bad things come in 3's so i am hoping I don't have to go back for a while. If I do have any more problems I will only seek Dr Read or Dr Shanleys advice.

My Bernese Mountian Dog is petrified of vets. I heard good things about Pet Shield so we gave it a try. Dr Reed and Amanda were kind, professional and absolutely patient beyond all expectation. They continually worked to treat my dog where she was comfortable and didn't give up until they had what they needed in a way that my dog was okay with. Wonderful experience and I am so glad we switched!

Excellent vetrinarians. They are very nice and always find time to see your pet. They are very compassionate here. I switched to them after several very bad experiences with other local vets and animal hospitals and since then i have been here many times with my dogs and i have never been dissapointed in the service they provide. Prices are high at all vets but the prices here are on the lower side of them.
