Our experience with Liberty Tax has got worse progressively over the last 3 years. We have been using them for 5, and the first 2 years were great, sadly it went down hill from there. Year three our rebate came back $3k less than the year before, even though our earnings and circumstances had remained the same. We obviously questioned the difference, and Gary magically managed to re look at it and it was adjusted to be close to the previous year (leading me to believe it had been rushed). Last year we signed all the paperwork and sent it to Gary. Told it was filed. No record by the IRS. Chased Liberty for SIX weeks, being given the run around by everyone we managed to get hold of on the phone. Never call back. Rude on the phone, and it is impossible to get hold of Gary who we usually deal with. In the end my wife had to physically go down there in person to get them to file the taxes. This year, here we are again, 4 weeks after them supposedly filing, still no record of it with the IRS. Still nobody returns calls or emails. Someone had the front to say yesterday that Gary was busy and to call back in a week and a half after tax season. What a joke. I wish my wife hadn’t already paid when they said they had filed, as now they have zero motivation to get back to us or do their job right. Gary is a nice guy when you can get hold of him, but there is only so many chances you can give someone. It looks like they now take on way more work that they can comfortably handle, and it’s the customers that suffer, which is a shame as it started out so well. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration, stay well clear.
