The Geek & The Grammar Queen

I came into the shop in a panic and DC was able to talk me through my issue. I broke the screen of my laptop, which was over 10 years old. We talked about options and he gave me my best option to consider. He understood that my laptop has my entire business book and files needed for that business to keep moving forward. He took the time to explain the process he was going to do in order to salvage my files. I brought in a temporary laptop to see if those business files could be put onto that machine. DC was able to do this process with ease. He kept me updated during the process, since he knew that my livelihood was connected to his work. I would recommend his skills to anyone in the are having tech issues. When I am ready to look for my own laptop, DC offered to give me some insight on what I should look for moving forward. How many people offer such service like that nowadays? DC saved my day for sure! ~Katie

Roses Express

I have shopped at this Rose's often when vacationing at Topsail. There is a wide variety of tuems. Lots of fishing supplies. You can find clothing, beach ware, household goods, some food stuff, personal care, even some car stuff. There is not a public restroom. My only critique is that checkout can often take more time than you expect. ~April

CVS

I went into the Sneads Ferry, NC CVS today. I was the only customer in a packed store that was masked. I left and called the pharmacy to speak with manager/pharmacist and expressed my opinion regarding the irresponsible lack of protection policy. The Manager told me that CVS has no mask mandate. I then went to the REALO in Hampstead. You can’t enter without a mask. Kudos for REALO. Shame on CVS stupidity. CVS Pharmacy provides health care. They advertise vaccine and booster services, yet do not require customers to be masked during a pandemic. Totally stupid, irresponsible corporate behavior. Avoid shopping at CVS. ~Richard

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill

This store is incapable of managing itself. Three times in two weeks they have either had their machines broken all day so they couldn’t serve ice cream, had no ice cream cakes cause they didn’t hire anyone, or completely run out of vanilla ice cream. It’s a great location with friendly staff but how hard is it to manage a franchise with no competition? Seriously the owner/manager needs to move on to something else…. ~Jason

Dey's Auto & Truck Repair

I was searching for some seals for a windlass on my sailboat on Google. I called everyone that was listed and then I clicked on Hunnings and I spoke to Jeff, this was on 4/15 . He listened to what I needed, took notes and said he would call me back. I didn't think he would (it's the type of service I've become used to, coming from South Florida). I was surprised to hear Jeff's voice a few hours later, letting me know that he had found the parts. When I placed the order, he called me back to let me know that the parts wouldn't be in until the end of May. I still placed the order, because of his customer service and communicating everything. He called me this morning to let me know that the seals had come in. He was just as surprised as I was. The next part of the story was picking up the seals, where I met Lynette. If I had a 10th of her energy, I'd be sailing around the world! The seals were perfect. I've let all the people at the marina know where to go when they need seals. Thank you Jeff, Lynette and Hunnings! ~Robert

Denoia's Pizzeria

We are wanting to try all the pizza places in the area and we chose this one Saturday evening. The dining room wasn’t very busy, but there were a lot of to go orders going out. Once you place your order at the counter, and fix your drinks, you get a number for your table. We ordered garlic parm wings and a half pepperoni and half Hawaiian pizza. We also got two side salads. They came to us first and were really good! Great ranch dressing and the lettuce and toppings were very fresh. The wings came and were crisp and had a lot of flavor. The pizza was next and the crust was good and had good flavor. Both the wings and pizza were greasy, which can cause some issues. The staff was friendly and were working hard. ~Julie

Subway

I am extremely picky about how my sandwiches are made because I basically take them apart and eat each individual item separately. Though, I've never had much of an issue at this particular Subway and people don't often complain about this directly to me, it isn't difficult to tell when someone is annoyed with my specific desires regarding the order and placement of my toppings, but this was certainly not the case here. The sandwich artist was friendly, knowledgeable regarding new menu items, and wasn't annoyed whatsoever when I expressed my desire for my sandwich to be made so specifically. I know I'm not always the easiest person to get it right for, but this time was spot-on! This sandwich artist definitely deserves some praise for her patience and understanding. Actually, if it were up to me, she'd be getting a raise! ~Brandi
