Open Letter to the Fire Marshal Dear Fire Marshal, Have you visited a Dollar General store recently? I mean any Dollar General store. How long do you plan to wait before you start citing the company for creating fire hazards by blocking the aisles and exitways with overstock? Is the plan to wait until a few unfortunate people burn to death after becoming trapped by all that overstock? The aisles are so cluttered in places that the product on the shelves are not even visible, much less accessible. Clearly, corporate is trying to boost their market value by reporting all that overstock as sold merchandise. I think it's time someone investigate Dollar General and find out why corporate is stuffing all their stores full of stock they don't need. ~David

I have only been in a handful of times but they've always been nice. There are some decent deals to be had. They aren't usually that busy. It's a great place to stop and browse if you're bored. Be careful though as not all deals are a bargain. Keep hunting. ~Jonathon

Another customer was talking on her cell phone, as she was shopping. We passed one another in several isles. About 10 minutes after I first noticed her, an employee named Lisa approached her and asked “are you just gonna hang on the phone or are you gonna buy something”. The customer appeared to be your typical person, well spoken, well mannered. There wasn’t anything suspicious about her at all. I overheard her telling the manager that she has lived down the street and has been coming to that location for years and years, but will never be back. They’ve lost my business as well because of Lisa. There’s a difference between someone doing their job, and doing something unnecessary and uncalled for. ~Tracy

Everytime I go to this dollar tree all the workers are yelling & cussing at their phones , one time the guy was talking about how he was about to get jumped & needed to call the cops running around the store cussing & everything , they sit outside & just smoke. I had to wait for someone to come in so I could pay. It’s honestly so dirty & they literally sit there & talk about drama. ~kylie

I called and asked for availability of an item, and after being told this item was available, we drove to the store in the snow. Once we arrived, I asked one of the workers where the item was located, and they told me they were out of stock on that item since Christmas, and told me they don’t know who would’ve said they had them. I checked my call log, and I did call the correct store. Absolutely ridiculous. ~Ripley

My wife and I have tried the hometown pickup in Owensville, Ohio. The first time we were given a completely different order( we realized, due to items we didn’t order in bags), told the person there that the Oder wasn’t incorrect. Minutes later she found our order, only to find that our order wasn’t all there. We called customer service and they refunded the items. The wife and I believe in second chances, so we tried it again today. Again our order was only half complete, needless to say we had to go through customer service again to get a refund and now we have to go the the actual physical store to get groceries. This hometown pickup has been more of an inconvenience than a convenience. ~Arnoldo

It has been a very long time since I had been here, mainly since I moved and other stores are closer, but man did I miss the place. Still has the same feeling it had years ago growing up shopping and when I had just been a few years ago. Great deals on many products and friendly faces there willing to help.
