10 Best sandwich shop in Charleston, South Carolina (SC) 2024

Absolutely awful!! The Indian man is so rude and disrespectful to every customer, and it because you can’t understand him and you ask him again and he gets made as can be!! He honestly doesn’t need to be working with the public. I’m admitted here for them to remove a cancerous tumor in my stomach, my wife went to get a Subway salad foot long, and Diet Coke. She was already upset over staying in hospital all day waiting for results of surgery and she came to room and said this was $14.75 !!! 🤬 If I could I would have went downstairs and confronted him. My wife is sweet as can be and she’s not one to confront a stranger. I know MUSC at Ashley River tower doesn’t own it but this was totally uncalled for. I have been coming here from Columbia, Sc for 20 yrs and respect every person that is in the building. Came in at 8:45 for 2 subs. They close at 9, the employees had the entire store closed down, and it was like I was inconveniencing them by ordering food and they were still open. They girl made some comments under her breathe when I told her what I wanted. I felt as a customer I was a bother to them, hopefully the owner sees this comment and fixes it. I will not be returning to this location after that. ~John

Been here multiple times every time we have issues. I’ve tried multiple times to give them the benefit of the doubt. This was the last straw the manager was completely rude to my husband. Gave him the wrong food when he decided to deal with and started eating noticed it was not filling cooked. I called to complain and and got frustrated for the Complete disrespect they gave him I know I shouldn’t have cursed but they were completely disregarding me like I was complaining for no reason. The manager tried to say they didn’t talk to him but yet when he described what she was wearing she said I never talk to anyone today. They also didn’t give us the correct order ~Leilani

**UPDATE** Gave this location another try today. Ordered through Doordash instead. However, after 5 phone calls back and forth with the store and the driver our delivery time was 1hr and 45 minutes. What happened to the "freaky fast" promise? Previous Review: I got a call 10 minutes after ordering saying, “We don’t have any drivers. You can either come pick it up or we can void the order”. We are 3 minutes away at the hospital. The man on the phone probably could have walked it to us in the time it took to call. This place sucks. ~ross

The staff at this location was great. Everyone was very friendly. I got a veggie unwich and my daughter got the veggie on white. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and chips. Bathrooms were clean. ~Creating

My wife and I went here to get some lunch. We love soup! We went in thinking about just getting soup, but we got the a half sandwich as well. We both got the loaded potato soup. She got the ham and cheese sandwich. I got the turkey bacon on rye. We loved the food. The wife got a job offer, but declined. We will come back to try something else on the menu. You should try it too! This is definitely a great place to try if you're into soup, salads, or sandwiches. Just say yum! ~Jason

Caviar and Bananas is a MUST TRY in Charleston!! They offer Gluten-free baguettes which is unheard of for any sandwich place, and as someone who has been gluten-free most of my life, this was such a special and wonderful treat! We ate here twice on our three day trip to Charleston and it was great both times! Though their cold drinks are overpriced (we only got them the first time) we loved all four sandwiches we tried! Their flavor combinations are really intentional and scrumptious. Just ask for extra sauce or mayo as the bread is really thick and it felt a little dry. They are located just outside of all the busyness of the bustle of Charleston, so it's quite accessible but nice and quiet. Best Gluten-free sandwich you will have anywhere. ~Kristi

We had wonderful lunch. Food is great and affordable, service was very kind. There is an arcade game zone and they show fun videos on TV, so my nephew had something to keep him occupied. Had a good time! ~Iren

Came in at the end of the lunch hour rush. Service was great. The Calzone was good tons of meat and cheese. The only downfall was the tea was not fresh brewed. It come from the soda fountain. ~TOMMY

I have visited this location many times and have had more bad experiences than good. Many times they were closed hours earlier than posted, and now there's a 10+ minute no service drawer change policy where customers are refused service at 2:15 pm on a Saturday. Well, I assume job security allows them to choose their own hours and availability for service. Don't waste your time if you want to eat. Go to one of the other surrounding restaurants where they actually care about the customer. ~Melanie
