This place is a furniture thrifting dreamland. Everything is fairly priced and sometimes free. The only thing is that is super hot and there is no central air. They have a few fans but prepare to sweat 😅 and have lots of fun!

Environmentally and Socially-conscious retail warehouse that sells reused and donated household items, furnishings, and building materials. You can find some great deals here, however IMO some of the price points on some of the items I viewed were pretty high and I wouldn’t consider a deal or bargain (such as ($1200 and $1800 chandeliers and light fixtures). I do intend to go back for a more thorough look around because I do love finding great items for a deal. I would definitely recommend going for a visit. You never know what steal or what unique piece you might find. Second Chance was founded in 2001 to develop solutions to sustainable employment and environmental issues. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides people, materials and the environment with a second chance. They deconstruct buildings and homes, salvage usable materials, and make those and other donated items available to the public for reuse at their more than 200,000 sq ft warehouse. With the revenue generated, they provide job training and workforce development for those with various employment obstacles in the Baltimore region. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 9am-5pm.

I learned about Second Chance through my builder. The process was amazingly simple. The crew took about 3 weeks to deconstruct my home. They take every piece of the house they can salvage. There is probably 80 percent less rumble that will get taken away which means less demo costs and better for the environment. They were careful and amazingly polite. They allowed my family to come in every night to show the process and when it got too dangerous they escorted us around the property. This is a great company with a good mission

A must-go whether you live in the area or just visiting. Great store with an even greater mission. A unique combination of a thrift store, salvage warehouse, construction material, bath and kitchen center, furniture and lighting store, antique shop, a non-profit, and a vocational school. Great bargains , unique pieces, professional and helpful staff, and a fun experience.

I have enjoyed shopping at Second Chance for several years BUT today I had a horrible shopping experience. I purchased or thought I purchased a pair of bifold trellis’. However, after paying and going to the bay to pick them up The staff had a lot of conversation among themselves trying to figure out what a pair was. They finally decided that each bifold trellis was a pair and that I had only paid for one. The bad part was that they treated me like I was trying to get away with something and explained that the salesperson was new and didn’t understand what a pair was. Then they proceeded to explain to me what a pair is. Well I guess us customers now have to determine if their sales people are experienced enough to write up the sales tickets correctly. BTW that salesperson said he interpreted the ticket that said pair of trellises to be the two on the sales floor! Needless to say I am saddened by how the staff acted about this and that they spent about a half hour trying to figure this out among themselves! I’m attaching a picture of the trellises for reference. I need long break from going back to this place again!!!!!

Visited for the first time yesterday. Amazing concept and all for good. The world needs more places like this with the ability to recycle, up cycle and reuse perfectly good products and materials. I purchased four outdoor wall mount lamps that came from the old Philadelphia convention center. So cool and I plan to be a regular visitor going forward. Who needs big box stores with Second Chance, a Baltimore icon!

Second chance is someplace everyone with a home in Baltimore needs to visit from time to time. Treasures are waiting to be found. I won't say that the treasure is easy to find as it may be mixed in with a lot of "stuff". Yet if you take the time to explore and remain open to the possibilities, you just may find exactly what you never knew you needed. As for me, in perfect solutions for problems in my garden and great ideas for the next home improvement project. I pray you'll have a similar experience soon!
